Rare Craftsman combination kit for sale. Will hold for a GJ member who needs to travel to pick up.
Everything is complete and original except the motors and belts... there was originally a 3/4 double sided motor and now there is a great condition Dayton 1/2 hp running the bench, and an older 2 speed 1/2 hp on a well built home made mount running the drill press. All badges are in great shape with the drill press head badge showing the most wear. Some of them look practically new. The item badges are all in tact and look great, and match the item numbers listed in the manual. Even the small pulleys are all labeled craftsman. I have the original manual for the kit and the bench along with some craftsman educational manuals for using the equipment.
The bench / stand has a home made cabinet, optional wheel kit and handles and still includes the original leg extensions if you want to take off the wheels. There is a power box mounted inside although the cord probably needs to be replaced as the outer covering is torn in many places. The wiring itself looks good. All the original brackets and hardware are there. There is a hook with some old blades, what looks like a home made dado set and dado throat plate.
The drill press is the unique piece here with the folding stand. The old motor still runs good and as mentioned has a low speed that is always welcome on a drill press. I have no idea what the rpm is on the low speed. I cannot make out a brand name on the motor. The original pulley mount is included if you want to take it back to stock and run off the bench motor. The spindle spins freely and slides up and down smoothly. The spring works great and returns the spindle back up easily. No missing parts and everything looks to be in good condition including the chrome. The headband has a few dents but should come out nice in a full restoration. The original chuck key is included even though it is not pictured. I have run the press and everything seems to be working great.
The table saw includes two optional extensions. This was obviously the most used piece in the kit. The body shows some wear and has a couple holes on the front from a switch mount. I cleaned out the gears inside to check for damage and as you can see it looks pretty nice. There is ONE missing tooth on the small angle gear but it still works and looks a lot better then most I have seen. This gear does come up on ebay occasionally if you want a new one. The table looks nice and the original miter gauge and fence are included. The face and body do show some dings and scrapes but again, a pretty easy restoration if desired.
The jointer /sander combo have seen the least use and look practically new. The blades show little wear and are semi sharp still. The blade guard springs back easily and the tables look good. The pulley on the sander does have a crack that follows the curve along the bottom of the groove for about 3/4" I think this would be an easy fix with some brazing if you wanted to keep the original 'long C' Craftsman pulley.
There are some belts included, some are nice some are frayed a bit and they are probably not the best sizes for this application. I was able to test out all the pieces and there is no obvious bearing noise or issues with the tools.
