Picked this up at an estate sale. Looks like from the 60's or 70's...not sure but wondering what power tool belongs to this box. Any ideas? I did empty some saw dust out of the box so maybe some type of saw?

Thanks,

KZ

Internal box looks like maybe it could hold a belt sander? Just guessing. I am sure someone here will figure it out.

I have been looking at this box on CL. The crowntop logo does not match up with the 1 hp router he is selling with it.
View media item 55748View media item 55749I did not mean to hijack your thread but it reminded me I wanted to post this box up. I am kind of interested but could also pick it up for someone else really looking for a box like this. Seller is asking $50 but would probably take less as it has been posted for almost 2 months.

Heritage logo and a metal handle = 1950's
I agree, it looks like it's the case for an aluminum bodied belt sander.

1960-1961 Craftsman power tool catalog. Take a look at page 57 for the dimensions of the belt sander and see if it comes close to the size of your box. Unfortunately they don't have the box dimensions and you can't tell from the photo if there is an internal tray.

I also thought it could possibly be a saber saw box but the one in the catalog is much different.

C-man...

There is no internal tray and the dimensions of the inner box is 11 5/8 x 5 3/4. The whole box measures 17 5/8 x 8 1/4. The saw dust I shook out was a fine powdery type that could come from a belt sander.

Excellent link C-man......Thanks!

Jakemac...1950's...Wow...did not think it was that old.

I used internal tray to try and describe the rectangular holder at the bottom of the box. A 1953 catalog shows a belt sander with dimensions of height 8", length 11 3/4", width 5". No picture of the steel case though.
