As the thread title suggests they're ****. At least the newer ones I had were. Broke two in half the same day. They are made very cheap. They're so bad I just tossed them in the trash. Why bother with a trade in and get more **** from Sears. Bought a set of Felo and they seem very robust. We'll see.

I'm inclined to agree with you. And my personal experience is that replacements are unavailable. I'm holding onto mine in a junk drawer in the hopes that maybe one day I can get replacements for the broken ones.

The ones I had that broke were probably six or seven years old. Don't see very hard use either. Just homeowner stuff and I'm pretty careful with things.

The old USA ones that I have aren't great either. They are pretty poorly made imo

Hi not too sound like a broken record but op you are not giving me enough information to go on... (remember craftsman has many different model #'s to choose from).

Model numbers.
Some kind of link too look at.
Pictures of these screwdrivers in question.

An old post of mine showing at least pictures at the very least; that makes it more helpful too the readers if you see what I mean.

You got the wrong Craftsman set, try these:

https://m.sears.com/Craftsman-6-Pc-...3755&cjevent=3bc9bb0334bc11e9833b00900a240611

I have them, love em, I got USA ones too, don't know if the Sears ones still are. Believe these go down to smaller sizes to boot. Even SBD is carrying them over too:

I have the same set, including the precision Torx, both USA made. I love them! The new ones are made in China.. don’t know what quality those would be...

Sad. Craftsman ain't what it used to be.

:) Craftsman was not that good even in the past. I have Craftsman precision screw drivers from 10+ years ago, Made in USA, usable but not good quality. The current Made in China ones should be at least as well made.

Can't say that my Felo are the greatest, but they are better than average.
I agree with you. Felo is just ok. I have a wooden handle set, barely acceptable quality. The tips are worse than USA made Craftsman, way not as good as Carlyle.

Craftsman screwdrivers ****... USA or China made. The only decent ones where the SK or soft handle WF versions.

I have that set too (I have a LOT of screwdrivers). It's very good quality, but it is NOT a jeweler's screwdriver set. The handles are way too thick, and there's no spinner at the top.

Yes woody 73, the set you linked with the multi colored handles is the one I wasted my money on. I can't post links, pics, or quote anything because I don't have enough posts.

I bought the USA set in the gray pouch years back. They’re good but only see occasional use.

One that was a poor design was the similar mini flip screwdriver. Plastic body with plastic bit holder for metal bits. Had two brokens. The plastic body couldn’t hold up to light use.

I had a set of the black craftsman precision screwdrivers with the multi colored knobs on the handles. They were awful and I ended up throwing them in the trash. The ends would twist, the chrome flaked and I broke a couple handles in half - I honestly don't think I was doing anything crazy like prying with them either? :wtf: Its not too often I throw away a tool. I usually at least try and repurpose them but these weren't worth keeping.

Instead I bought a 30 piece micro screwdriver set from Fry's ( a local electronic store) and they have been fantastic. I've never heard of the brand (Boxer) and I think they are made in Taiwan but the tips are strong, don't bend or chip, and fit about any micro fastener you would use a screwdriver for whether its slotted, phillips, torx etc. I found the same set on amazon for about $14 which is probably cheaper than my craftsman set. It takes up less room in my box, the bits are held securely in the handle and it works great.

I'm sure the SBD ones are made in China, otherwise SBD would have USA slapped all over the packaging. I have the U.S. made ones, and have had no issues so far

I'm guessing that not all of CM's precision screwdrivers are junk. I have a set that I bought many, many years ago that are okay. Not the quality of my Wiha or Wera, but ....

"Craftsman Precision Screwdriver" refers to a specific set (and line of open stock) by that exact name. These specifically:

I am not aware of any other screwdrivers from Craftsman with that specific name, nor am I aware of any older version of these that these replaced.

Our local Sears closes the end of this month. I made one final trip into the tool section to see what if anything was left. Almost everything is gone except for screwdrivers. They must have stocked up just before the closing was announced. They had lots of individual as well as screwdriver sets still on display. Weird.
