I rarely see these go on sale so I thought I'd post it up here. $128.51 (not marked a "hot buy" yet so coupons should work i.e. SAVE15 I was also able to stack a $10 points back coupon. But as always YMMV )http://www.sears.com/craftsman-3-piece-premium-grade-ratchet-set/p-00929498000P?prdNo=12

I know these are USA made, but if you're willing to try another COO, you can find a nice deal for the 3 piece 120xp ratchets by Gearwrench for a lot less. I believe trident has the three ratchet set for less than $80.

i think these are the highest quality ratchets to have the Craftsman name on them... some day, these will be collectable when gearless ratchets are more common place many years in the future...

I snapped up a set a few weekends ago. maybe I just need to break them in but they are a bit stiff. prior to this set I had the thin profile ratchets. (made in usa) and before that, the old craftsman ratchets. again, maybe I just need to break them in but the thin profile ratchets (well worn) do feel a lot better.

The 6 piece ratchet/extension set with the thin profile ratchets are on sale as well for only $63.74. They are still USA online so get them while you still can!

I have the 3/8 ratchet and have been extremely pleased. I might pick this set up and sell the extra 3/8

To each is his own but in my opinion that still pretty steep for Craftsman. I would hate to know I spent that much on ratchets that didn't say Snap On.

To each their own, however this is a thread alerting the tool buying public of discounted goods. Not the OMG I NEED ALL SNAP-ON TOOLS AND A 4X4 F350 to use them on because I have an identity crisis and a small ***** thread. As said "to each their own" and let others who don't worship at the alter of the ALLMIGHTY snap-on rules all throne to use this forum as facilitation to purchase those goods. Now show me a snap-on deal equivelant to this price and you'll have my attention. Good day sir.

I'd tend to agree with the collectable part. Me, I'd just use them, but there will be a point in the future that some Craftsman USA stuff will be collectable

Price a set of let's say Matco ratchets because they are very similar. I would put them up against most truck brands. For the money these are pro quality. A definate hidden gem. I have snap on and Cornwell ratchets and use these more. The heads are the thinnest profile of all the ratchets I own

Always one person making a comment like this.

T72 $74.95
F80 $94.95
S80A $144.95

Total is $314.85 before tax. Go buy Snap-On if you want but the Cman 84T are just as good if not better for substantially less cash. And the Cmans are all stamped USA on the head.

It is the standard attitude that a car cannot be repaired if you do not use snap-on.

My techs repair stuff all day that is allot more complex than a new car using craftsman industrial. We do not have the luxury to wait a week for a broken tool or ordered tool. I call my dealer and I will have it in a hour, 4 hours if it comes out of the Albuquerque warehouse.

I recently unloaded my "thin profiles" to buy these premiums. The thin profiles were nice and had the quick release, but the professionals fit my hand better, are slightly longer, and are actually thinner. Definitely the best ratchets I have ever owned.

How can you tell they're USA versions?

Because I have ordered a set a month ago for my dad (USA), and I decided to get myself a set last week and they were USA as well. I have a buddy who sells on ebay and bought 4 sets together (all USA).

Do you think they are worth twice the price? Just curious.

I Personally don't put alot of faith in reviews, but based off the numerous complaints here and via the web concerning the jamming of these mechanisms and my personal experience of having one jam simply by inspecting it in the store. I can't help to think there are some issues with this design... The only real difference between the premiums and other apex brands (gw/Armstrong/Matco) is that the premiums utilize a cover plate that is secured with two screws versus the traditional snap ring.

The first time i used a 3/8" premium it jammed. There is obviously at least a batch or two with this problem

Worth twice the price? Debatable for now. Im only a weekend wrencher on my project truck so they are definitely unnecessary, but I really liked the feel of them. The thin profiles were just a little too fat on the handle for me. I just got them last week so I haven't had a lot of experience with them yet.

When I bought the 1/4" version, the first one on the rack was locked up. It would move one way fine, but when switched it would get stuck. I don't really use mine enough to probably ever wear it out or break it, but rebuild kits shouldn't be too hard to find. If anything, I will just pick up a Matco 88 kit and stick it in. I believe they are the same?

I believe the point he was trying to make is that this is a lot of money for 3 ratchets (in general).

Thanks for posting these deals - UPS just delivered the $64 6 piece thin profile set, and all pieces were made in USA. The set came in a plain brown box like the industrial sets last year, and looked was kind of dusty inside the box, but work well, and the chrome looks good.
