Just noticed online that they are on clearance. Must be phasing those out.....

Thought I would pass along in case someone wanted to grab them before they are gone....

My sears has 1 left. They stopped making them in the USA a while back but could they be just discontinuing it? Seems weird to me. Also I have notice pretty much everything that was made by empire is no longer in my store either.

Didn't know they went off shore. I thought they were made by Armstrong. Makes sense if they are off shore now and are discontinued. The Low Profile in my opinion was probably a better ratchet between the two. (If they are both Tiawan now) I know the USA models I saw in the store. One of the 1/4 was locked up.

My store has a USA 1/2 model if I remember correctly, probably old stock since I doubt they sold well since they are priced either at or more than industrial brands. Plus I heard about the locking up problems in reviews too. They might have still been made by apex but just off shore. I don't know exactly when they outsourced but I heard it on here a few months ago from someone.

Yankee they are COMPLETELY sold out online. They sold out 7/15.

You'll have to check searsoutlet.com, your local Sears, summitracing.com, or eBay.

eBay or Summit you are looking at spending ~$200 for the set.

Sears still sells USA new old stock.

The "Premium" ratchet was and will likely be USA only.

Are you talking about the premium ratchets or thin profile? The premiums are still usa AFAIK but the thin profile has been taiwan for a couple years. I started seeing some 84 tooth thin profile instead of the usual 60 so that might be why they are on clearance if indeed its the thin profile and not premium we are talking about.

I think he is talking about the 84T (84 Tooth). The 84T "Premium" ratchet has been on reduced price for about 9 months and finally was on closeout for about a month before they sold out. You cannot buy them online anymore.

The premium ones. I am trying to find out where I got coo taiwan from, the thread has to be at least 2 months old.
Okay I spend a hour looking and had no luck. It had to be before may since in may was my first comment about the changing the coo. I think I got the premium and low profile ratchets confused because while searching I saw a thread about how the low profile ratchets were upgraded to 84t and the coo changed to taiwan. All I could find about them making them in taiwan was someones review of the 1/2 drive premium on sears website that said it was made in taiwan. Well at least I know now.

I see the review now. Shocked and saddened to see it is taiwan :(

I think the Premium ratchets are discontinued. All the Sears by me don't have them anymore. The low profile are now 84t and Taiwan made. So no reason to keep the premium if the low profile are now 84t. This is probably because apex stopped making the 60t gearwrench ratchet and it's now 84t as well. I have all 3 premium and they are my favorite ratchets. I Also Have The Low profile but mine are 60t and USA made. They came in the socket module sets.

I have the 84t USA premium and I like em a lot. As discussed in length here the 1/4 locks up once in a while. Run light oil and you are good to go.

I checked the Sears site. They are still available online. $10 off the 3/8" and $5 off the 1/4" and 1/2". That's still pretty expensive even after factoring in points. They were much cheaper when sold as a set of 3 a while back.

That being said, I love my 60 tooth thin profile ratchets.

Negative! Try going through the checkout. You'll get the following message:

"We're sorry, this item is no longer in stock or we don't have that quantity available. You can search for similar items or choose Free Store Pickup."

Pretty sure that means any interested customer is SOL.

Interesting. When I opened the product in stock for shipping with my zip code, but I got that same not available message in the cart. No stock in any stores around me (according to online).

Sears' website, along with SearsOutlet, is a crapshoot.

I can't tell you how many times I've ordered something that was allegedly in stock from either only to get an apology email stating I bought a phantom item they no longer have.

Then, I have to wait nearly a week for them to refund me...great.

Just in case anyone is curious, these particular ratchets were fairly uncommon to run into in the "wild". Getting repair kits, should you need them, is a pita.
