Hello all,
Shopping for NOS Craftsman "Professional" USA MM Flare Nut Wrench Set 5 pc. #42013, like set in pic. I understand, most new Craftsman is made in China but I thought Craftsman "Professional" is/was made in USA. I see both Craftsman & Sears websites have a #42013 but neither description says "Professional". Craftsman site says "The product you searched for is no longer available..." but Sears says "available for pick up locally, today". That said, are the new Sears #42013, Craftsman "Professional" but made in China?

Professional branding is dead. Has been for ~8 years. Everything has been China for awhile and is using different forgings, are full polish, but arent under the "Professional" name. Those particular wrenches were made by SK if you want to go straight to the source.

Thanks!
Was all Professional branding made in USA, when alive?
SK is cool! Which set are you referring to as "those particular wrenches"...
NOS "Professional" or new Sears?

New china-made Craftsman full polish wrench sets assumed the same set # as the long-discontinued USA full polish 'Professional' line.

My set of flare nut spanners from SK are made in the USA, it was cheaper to buy a full set and ship them from the US than it was to buy a snap-on set over here. They're good.

Other brands i would recommend are Facom which i've been using for years, Stahlwille 24 series, Gedore do set for about £70 made in Germany.

Toptul are meant to be good, and a set from them is about £40 over here.

Also, be wary of what Sears claims to have “In-Stock, pick-up today”, online. I have found on multiple occasions that their system isn’t always accurate and they didn’t have the item at all.

I’ve also found the exact opposite to be true... the item you want to purchase online isn’t available (in-stock) at the store, so they have to order it... but I go to the store that day for something else and they have it right there on the shelf.

Ah, thanks!
So, to confirm...
NOS Craftsman "Professional" set #42013 was made by SK in USA but new Sears #42013 is China made...?

The package will confirm. It'll tell you where the item is made.
Thanks, good call, on being wary of “In-Stock, pick-up today”, online... I believe, I've had a similar experience. That said, I can't always confirm, what the package tells me, before buying. ;)

Generally, if it says “Professional Use or Industrial on their website its USA made, but last I checked they got rid of all the Professional stuff. I bought some Craftsman Professional Use ratcheting wrenches and when they arrived they were USA Industrial wrenches.

Correct.

Both of the links you posted in the OP are a china-made Craftsman set, however the set you have pictured in the OP is a USA 'Professional' line wrench set. Both were/are sold by Sears as set #42013. The quality difference between them is HUGE.

Very cool, thanks!
FWIW: Here's a visual comparison, of new china-made Craftsman set, currently sold by local Sears as #42013 vs. NOS "Professional" USA #42013...
