Is Sears doing away with their Professional Pliers? Went to my local sears and there not in the same aisle as usual, but there on an end cap next to the clearance stuff. And there on sale. So I bought a couple. I think there really nice, made in the USA, by western forge.

Just sounds like you got a deal. They're still in their normal section here at regular price. Two weeks ago they had a great deal on them (I got the 8" diagonal pliers and needle nose pliers for $19- regular ~$30 so I jumped on it).

i think it may be part of trying to remove any "Professional" brand stock. They are on sale and i believe its store wide even if your store doesnt have a sign up. Someone mentioned last week about their store marking them all 30% off and a day later the sears website followed suit. It states "while quantities last" so it sounds like clearance to me.

They're nice. I think they may be priced a bit on the high side, even with the sale, comparative to what you can find channellock for though. The handles are a pain in the neck to clean if you get something like Permatex anti-seize on them.

Really? So you think they are trying to get rid of the professional brand? I find that hard to believe since I feel like they just came out with it. They seemed to do decently well too.

I keep eying the new Craftsman Premium 84-tooth ratchets. They have the crossbeam handle and I've actually heard some people say they're actually better than the SO80s. I haven't seen for myself yet since they aren't in stock at my local Sears.

I've got a set of the black handled Craftsman pliers (not sure if professional or not) but I am gradually replacing them w/ blue handled Channellocks which I like much better. YMMV.

This is the time of the year; when they will do the store inventory and reset the planograms.... you will see clearance items on a number of products. Many times you will see prices with .88 at the end of the price; this will indicate a clearance item. Some products will just be superseded with a new part number or packaging with new graphics on them... time will tell if the "professional" line will be eliminated!

As you can see in this link; some of them are .88 on the prices... clearance! There are a number of other sets with "normal" pricing however.... we will see what happens!

I had that set for years and they worked well (not Pro set)

A couple years ago I upgraded to Channel Locks and I would never look back. The cman set is in my car and they still see duty at times. The 8" CL needle nose pliers are among my favorites, if it wasn't for them I would have picked up the cman pro ones.

I really like my cman Pro adj wrench set (used mostly for plumbing) and I have some of the screwdrivers as well.

I do need a proper set of pry bars (just have the one my father gave me), maybe I can pick them up on sale.
