I finally order a Craftsman Professional 36" toolbox from sears. $1,530.00 to pick up at Sears. This is about $950.00 off of the normal price before taxes. I think that I did well even though it is not as nice as a Snap-On or Matco box. I am just a home wrencher and wanted something nice but not too expensive. This should meet all my needs and I am satisfied with my selection. I looked for months for a used SO or Matco but too expensive. Many lower line Craftsman boxes that did not interest me. The toolboxes at Costco are all chinese and thin except the large Torin box which was just too large for my needs and space limitations. I am not a fan of the latest stainless fad. I just stuck with the basic black color. Anyone else with the 36inch Professional Toolbox to share any comments?

I'm thinking for $1530.00 - that's gotta be a roll cabinet with the matching top chest, right?

Yep, roll cabinet and chest. Not sure about the shots reguarding maintaining. I don't plan on maxing out the drawers with weight and using it everyday as a professional mechanic. Should last me the rest of my life. The box is supposedly made by Waterloo and the manufacture':headscrats origin said made in USA with some global components. I don't make it into the toolbox snob club but who the hell cares anyway?

fatboydj, can you give us a link or tell us which one you ordered? I think the pro/industrial units are high end Waterloo; I don't think you can go wrong... if you like them! I very rarely if ever see them at the stores; when I have seen them... the quality of construction, gage steel, sliders, casters, locks etc. definitely put them in the pro level of quality! Let us know when it shows up and how you like it! :)

I ordered the rolling cabinet and chest below:

Sears item # 00965564000 Mfr.model # 65564
Sears item # 00965563000 Mfr.model # 65563

They are supposedly being discontinued and I noticed that they are not in the new Sears tool offering book. They are replaced with a box that looks a bit different for the professional line.

I have the older Sears Industrial 36 inch seven drawer cabinet. Can't complain. Mine was defiantly built by Waterloo, where I got parts for it that Sears couldn't get.

Things I like about the box;
Sturdy.
Deep.
7 full length drawers.
Good lock.
Decent rolling ability loaded. Nowhere near as good as my Matco, but better than most of my other boxes.
Drawers have GOOD depth. I keep things as big as Skill saws in it, as heavy as my hammer collection and dollies.
Drawers are STRONG, don't bend anymore than Matco or Mac.

Things I don't like about it;
Drawer retainers. Mine is pre-Griplatch and the plastic clips Waterloo used are a pain.
Problems with the slides. Some got loose from the cabinet. You can't imagine the chaos... Had to drill holes and put keeper screws in them, like Matco uses stock.

Overall the 36 inch 7 drawer design is a big hit with me. I have more expensive boxes and prettier boxes but those seven full length drawers make it a keeper.

Chris Adams, got any pics of your box; you would like to share? I just don't see many craftsman pro out there; maybe because you usually have to special order them!? I would like to see what you have; I remember them being called Craftsman "Industrial" too! I wonder when they stopped calling them that; I remember a "Craftsman Industrial" badge on the boxes; I think in the 80s and 90s?

They still sell them as Craftsman Industrial. I was looking at set last year. 13 or 14 hundred for the bottom.
Size it's about the same as the Pro, so most things work the same. The handles on (both) the ends are way bigger though.

Here are a couple shots from soon after we painted it. The body, not the drawers, is painted with bedliner. Works great as a tool box cover, by the way.

Only one handle on it. The other is stored away as it takes up too much room with even one handle.

I am on my third Craftsman Professional (or industrial) Roll-a-way. The first was the 46" wide 24" deep box, the Industrial series the pregriplatch. The one that you could lock without the key. When I had that box I was setting punch press dies. that box had the long top drawer, but the drawer only had one pair of drawer slides, in that drawer I had a Craftsman 3/4" socket set, 1/2" dr. shallow standard sockets, 3/8" dr mid length standard sockets, 1/4" mid length sockets, Wrenches from 1/4" to 1 5/16", screw drivers, and Pliers, I basically rolled up to the press and opened that drawer and had everything that I needed to change the tooling in the press. After replacing the drawer slides for the 4th time I called sears and told them that this box was not going to work. I then down graded to the to the 36" Professional Model Box, I also at that time switched from Setting Dies to Working in the Tool and Die Dept. so I did not need the larger Box anymore. That Box worked great until one of The spot welds broke. See this Thread: I now have the 36" box in Blue, this one is made in Mexico and is not as good quality as the last one. All and all I have been happy with the 36" Roll-a-way.

If there is any other Questions that i can answer just let me know.

That box looks great but for about the same price you can get a 41 1/2" Proto box. Actually, I believe I paid a little less than that for mine a couple years ago. Unless the Cman Pro has changed since I bought my Proto box, the Proto was much nicer. Here is mine.

I was in sears today and they had some "closeout" signage on the floor model combo, but the price wasn't great, $1149 for the set. I've been eyeballing the intermediate chest but they want $299 for it. =/
