So, I've been looking for these for a while and was just doing my weekly search on sears and these came up. It's a 2 piece set of what I am assuming to be US made wire twisting or "safety wire" pliers. Heck of a deal if they are, since they are probably made by one of the other guys that normally sell these for twice as much for 1.

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00936397000P

Price: 41.39

Add some filler to get to $50 so you can use VALPAK5 or other coupons, plus free shipping over $59.

Your link is to some cheap knockoffs, and anyone I know that uses them will tell you the imports aren't worth any price. You can get the same knockoffs at HF for even cheaper than this ebay link. The hot deal is only if they are US.

If cheap knockoffs are your reference for what is a good deal, then you probably should just cut and paste that response to each post.

Those don't look like your snap on ones either, because they aren't. As far as I know they are the "old" millbar nonreversible type, while the snapons are reversible.

maybe they are the same, maybe they aren't - seems no one can tell from the sears site

i already own the snappys so i don't really care, i was just passing info to you

Here's a larger pic, showing they are Stride (Milbar) Made in USA... like the 12 pc ring plier set we just discussed :)

Milbar is the brand used and sold for years (and years). First by the aircraft industry, then auto and motorcycle racers. Milbars are the real thing, Good price for two.

what specifically are these used for (don't say twisting wires)? looks like something feeds through the bottom?

Millbar is a great brand; I've used them for years.

edit: I've posted a link to explain their use, but requires "moderator approval".

A simple explanation would be to keep bolts from falling off airplanes :scared: or other places where loosing a fastener would be a bad thing. Nearly the same principle as a cotter key on a front spindle bearing nut.

Very common in the aircraft world, and in other places where you need to make damn sure nothing comes apart in a critical or high vibration environment. My most common use is changing oil on the airplane, where the oil filter is safety wired in position so that it cannot work loose. Other common service areas include brake caliper bolts and just about any component that is attached to the engine. Last night I removed a propeller and each pair of those bolts were safety wired together to prevent them from backing out as well.

This is a GREAT deal for genuine USA Milbar products. I ordered a set and hope they arrive. I have an old pair and the return spring for twisting broke long ago.

This listing of "Craftsman" labeled safety wire pliers had my interest peaked when it first posted as I never recalled in the past of Craftsman offering such a thing or seeing it cataloged.
