So yesterday I went to pickup a few tools for a kit to keep in my car to repair bikes and cars at a homeless outreach I serve with. Since there is not really many places to get tools in the area other than craftsman or HF I decided to get a China made 12 piece metric wrench set, 1/4" ratchet set and some hex keys at Sears while the Club days are going on.
I get the wrench set home and open it to find the 8mm wrench bent. Mind you it never had a chance to even touch a bolt. This is out of the package. Also the selector on the ratchet was sticking so I opened it up and there was no lube at all inside (but somehow the China ratchets now have a metal selector lever).
In the past month I have had 4 dead on arrival Craftsman tools. One T15 screwdriver with a missing tooth, a rebuild kit with a dead QR button stuck down, a 5mm hex socket which I couldn't get on 5mm bolt because it measured out at 5.16mm on one side only with calipers and a now this 8mm wrench.
I gotta find a Snap On rep in my area that will deal with a hobbiest because I'm wasting more time doing warranty exchanges on brand new stuff than it's worth. I get 30 year old Snap on stuff off eBay that's better than this.
I feel cheated that the brand is holding its reputation on years past.
New out of package
Next to the 7 and 9mm's
5.16mm for a 5mm hex?
