Craftsman Quality On Ebay

I like to buy "new" Craftsman tools online through Ebay, as their often quite a bit cheaper than going to Sears, but I was wondering if these "new" Craftsman products are B stock or Refurbished.
The items the Ebay sellers sell are new and in the original packaging. I've never seen any obvious flaws or damage.

Does Sears sell B stock Craftsman tools through other channels?

How are these small dealers able to get these Craftsman tools so much cheaper.

Thanks,

I don't really know the answer to your "big" question. What I do know, though, is that I have bought from some of these ebay dealers before and never had any issues with the quality.

In my experience the Craftsman tools that I bought on eBay have all either been new in original packaging, new but from one of their tool sets so it was either bagged or loose, or some has been used(but I bought it knowing this). I wouldn't worry about it being a lower grade as it all carries the same warranty and you cant refurbish hand tools in most cases. many of the deals can be had from people parting out tool sets. As far as I am concerned, I would take broken Craftsman tools without any problem as they are so easy to warranty. The key is to know who you are buying from and what you are buying. most people on eBay don't fully read the auction, and don't really look at feedback. if you do this with any auction you will be safe. I have bought hundreds of items worth thousands of dollars and have not had a single really bad experience.

I haven't had any issue with Craftsman tool purchased on ebay, whether new or used.

In fact, I have only had problems with "inferior stock" when buying from a Sears store. I suspect, much like any other mass retailer, that when buying from the end of a production run or clearance items, you might end up with the dregs...

I've sold quite a bit of craftsman (as well as snap-on, matco, mac) stuff on ebay. Most of the craftsman stuff I sell is basically unused because I went through my toolboxes and purged spare sets I had gotten/been given, etc. I also end up with stuff from where I've bought a bunch of tools at an auction and kept what I wanted and sold the rest. I still have a pile if your ever looking for anything!

As a added note.. here in KC is the sears outlet.. they sell refurb and scratch/dent stuff like appliances, etc. They also have a whole room full of scratch dent, dropped, etc (toolboxes) as well as refurb stuff (air tools, power tools) and closeouts of discontinued hand tool sets. Some decent deals if your looking for craftsman stuff.

I just got a set of SAE and metric midget combo wrenches... full polish. Together they would cost me about 36$, I paid $19 AFTER shipping. Brand new, just got them in yesterday. No problems whatsoever with them. There are some people selling scratch and dent items like the airtools (how I almost got the 3/8 pro gun) so if your worried just ask the seller up front. I havent had a problem with them, but I would be more carefull with powertools and air tools.
