Craftsman ratchet ID help needed

Went to the pawn shop in search of a cheap 1/2” drive to keep in my roadside box.

Saw this and couldn’t pass this up. I’m a Chrysler fan, and the selector reminds me of the forward look era emblem Chrysler used in the 50’s.

There is no patent number on this one, so I cannot search by number.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you

In 1959 the Craftsman ratchet line adopted a distinctive V-shaped shift lever, based on a design described by patent #D185,651, issued to R.M. Vose in 1959 with assignment to Moore Drop Forging.

With all the snow we had here over the past 2 days I have some time to get a side project done. A friend had given me an old "flying-v" or "butterfly" Craftsman ratchet that was completely locked up with the hopes I could get it back in shape. Spoiler alert: It's alive!

As an aside note; I used the Harbor Freight ultrasonic cleaner on some parts and was quite happy with it.

As always, I'm still learning and "new" to video production. I am open to suggestions and opinions. Thanks!

So this ratchet “could” be from 1959? Any way to tell for sure a date range? It has the Oiler on top, that the guy in the video mentioned.



So, it looks like I just bought a cheap ratchet for my roadside box, that may actually find it’s way into my main box or extra box. Dang it....

Hunt is on then for another cheap 1/2” drive ratchet....

If you want to see how well you did then check out the pricing on ebay for those ratchets. I sold one just like yours for $110. Unbelievable!

Oh man. I paid $16 and some change, but that was also with a couple of sockets...

Not looking to sell though. I bought it to use and abuse, but sure is tempting!!!

I find some of the greatest deals at pawn shops. Almost always come away with something useful, and every once in a while I snag something special.
