Craftsman Ratchet Part?

Can someone tell me what this is? I know it's for a 1/2 drive something or other.

It's a thumb spinner.
You put it between the ratchet head and the socket.

Yup, I remember cheap socket sets in the 70's including a plastic version. The metal ones are the good ones if you tend to use such a thing. They can be handy at times (if you can remember where you put it when you need it).
