Pre-1969 ratchet (no model number). Lots of people call that a "flying V" rathcet, but the official Craftsman name for the selector was "butterfly" if that might help at all, which I seem to recall was introduced in 1959, so any kit 1959-1968 will fit.

anyone know the ball bearing size for this ratchet? 3/32 is too small. The pawl still seems to be in decent shape, but the ball bearing is worn badly.

I'm pretty sure that version wasn't supported by Craftsman when Sears offered repair kits. Unfortunately, the regular 30 tooth kit won't fit in it.

Hi, the original kits are still out there . EBAY is your best bet , but they bring a tag of 50 plus dollars . there are kits you can take parts from that do not include the new butterfly switcher. If you really need one I have several in the shed somewhere. I purchased them to have for the 3/8 spinner ratchets.

Thanks Dieselclunker...I am looking for the kit: R 4478.

If you have one, shoot me a message with a price and appreciate your help.

May be cheaper to find a donor ratchet, and steal the guts. Can take a look and see what I have (the same kit was used in the larger rounded selectors).

They were supported by Sears, had one rebuilt about 6-8yrs ago. Had to hound the guy to give me back the V selector, as he installed the new one instead.
