Grainger has Craftsman Industrial RHFT ratchets listed in their catalog. Are these the same as the old Craftsman round head ratchets? I've heard that you can get the 40% off the catalog price somehow. Can someone confirm this or tell me how to get such a discount?

That is not the classic RHFT ratchet. It is the second version that most did not like as well. We used Wrights vs these.

From the Granger site:

Min. Arc Swing 5 Degrees
Number of Geared Teeth 45

45 T = 8 degrees, so it may have a double pawl? :dunno:

But it is not the "classic" RHFT head

once more not the classic, the classic ones have the raised panel handle, and one "wing" on it, with the quick release button being rectangular in the center.

Handle doesn't really matter as the same RHFT head/guts, including the front knurled ring and QR button, were used in a number of different brands back in the day, and few of them besides Craftsman had the RP handles.

Those are not RHFT. Those have been the bottom of the barrle craftsman ratchet for years. They always were, but I can't say now USA made. I'm thinking they replace the stanley made import tri-wings. Last I knew, Allen still offered RHFT in a long handle 1/2". I wish I had come to love the RHFT sooner as I have not seen the ratchet in stores for a while. The ones I saw were USA.

The key point is that you're looking for the Craftsman Round Head Fine Tooth Quick Release Ratchet.

What you kinked from Grainger is the old entry level KD now Armstrong branded danaher made ratchet. It isn't the same as the classic RHFTQR ratchets. They weren't very good ratchets in my opinion. They tended to slip under load and strip teeth but,, that's just me.

The old c-man are hot sellers on feebay, imo its more of a collectable than a user. The 1/4 and3/8 go for over $20. I've sold several, fixing to list a 1/4 today.
