Hello GJ - First post here. I'm restoring a Buffalo Forge No. 15 drill press and have an opportunity to pick up what appears to be a pretty old Craftsman with a 101.03581 serial number. From what I can tell this is a Craftsman-branded machine made by Atlas. From the S/N does anybody know what model it might be?

What you have there is a more "Economy Lined" Craftsman 101. but not necessarily a 101.33581, Mine is stamped 101-BD2B (No nameplate) but stamped into the Base table itself. Also just curious does that motor Not have a Cone Pulley? that could be an issue haha
screen shot from here (they are also featured in the 1940 catalog same website)

Welcome to GJ javie. I've got four Craftsman presses from that era but not that particular model. The one you're showing is indeed made by Atlas. I'm guessing its a 13" model. I love the old Atlases. Bomb-proof and easy to work on. You can download an owners manual/parts list over at the Vintage Machinery website.

I messed up on the S/N it is actually 101.03581. The motor pulley definitely looks like it isn't original - and thanks Garage.Girl, I didn't even notice that. The price on this is $75, is it worth it???

The stand does appear to be galv. pipe.

I'd say no more than $50. Advise the seller that the missing step pulley will easily cost $25 or more. And if the spindle guard is missing (it would be on the top of the belt guard), that's another $50-100 to replace.

+1 on exmaximas' advice. These things can eat you alive trying to find missing parts, especially the spindle guard. I wonder if that culvert pipe is filled with concrete?

That culvert pipe was concrete-filled. It does have the spindle cap/guard on it and I went ahead and purchased it. Will start resto as soon as I'm done with another Buffalo Forge No. 15. Can't wait and thanks for your replies.

I'm new to this site and can't locate site to post my first query...so hope there is help here. I have my dad's original S&R drill press mdl 103.23131 that he bought in the mid 50's. The feed return spring 18915 has become rather discombobulated, twisted badly. Does anyone know where I might locate/find a replacement spring. Appreciate any direction. Oh I have tried ebay with no luck.
