Craftsman Screwdriver warranty?

I broke the tip on my 16" by 1/4" flat screwdriver.
Went to Sears store and the kid working the tool dept. couldn't
find a replacement. He suggested I go to the Ace hardware
across the parking lot. I don't think he knew what a screwdriver
was used for.
Went to Ace and struck out there.
Is there somewhere on the net to take care of warranty?
Thanks

Go back to Sears and find somebody that knows what is going on. If they do not have it in stock, they should be able to have it dropped shipped to you from Sears.com.

I had a wrench to warranty at Sears a few months back and they did not have it in stock. The sales guy helping me went to a ordering Kiosk and tapped some info in and had my replacement dropped shipped with 2 day shipping to my door.

Sears service is getting to be luck of the draw... The last time I was at a Sears in MI, the counter person insisted there was no warranty on a product branded Craftsman, so the customer persisted till another (far more knowledgeable) associate said they would order in the piece and call them when it came in.

Yeah, the salesperson should have got on the phone like Hootbro said.

In the past I turned tool in at the store and Craftsman mailed the replacement when not in stock or catalog only item.

Sad Sears is hiring kids that have no clue, like the others have said find someone else that can help you out.

I wonder how many people are throwing the tools away from the advice of the sears workers ? :dunno::sad::sad::sad:

My advice would also be to just throw it away. You have a screwdriver worth a few dollars at current sears set pricing. You can buy them all the time at garage sales for $.10 to $1.00. You can buy similar ones at HF for under $5, or in a good brand for under $15. Your time has to be worth something? I wouldn't spend 15 minutes of my time trying to warranty that thing a second time! Maybe regrind the tip to work again, that would take about 2 minutes at the belt sander. I do that all the time with my flat blade drivers, even the Snap-on. Only when they get beyond reshaping will I warranty them, and then only if I'm doing something else or buying something on the truck. Not worth it for just one screwdriver.

Recently tossed out a bunch of older Craftsman stuff that had broken over the years. I'm not about to give up a couple of hours, pay for parking, etc so they can replace with Chinese stuff instead of real tools. I recently bought a set of "Craftsman?" Screwdrivers for the wife's kitchen drawer and she twisted the blade first use.

I'm done with them

The Ace local to me doesn't honor the Craftsman warranty. Sears closed down, as in all of them within 40 miles. Went to a big city Sears and they didn't have hardly anything in stock, and refused to order. "Just check back every week" they said. Nope.

there USED to be a toll free # to call for sears warranty items not carried in the store. Last time I used it, there was a kiosk in Sears setup with a phone for that purpose, and instructions on how to call...they would mail the replacement to your home for free. this was probably 5 or 6 years ago, so no idea if it is still in operation.

I did find the Craftsman warranty and repair hotline online, maybe give them a call and see what they can do for you.

edit: for those saying just toss it and don't worry about a cheap screwdriver, I believe the one he is talking about is that rather large long flat blade job, not a cheap $3 junker, but the good almost prybar type. I have 2 of those and they are not something I would give up, unlike most of the other craftsman screwdrivers...

I know which one he is talking about, I have one I use as a paint stirring stick. Still not worth an hour of my time to warranty....... Can buy an SK one for under $20 any day: https://www.harryepstein.com/index.php/screwdrivers-slotted-27545.html

If you need a prybar like that, sears puts their 3 piece USA made prybar set on sale a few times a year for $20.

I agree it's not a prybar, and I have 2 sets of the cman red handle bars, love those!

I use that screwdriver all the time, so for me it would be worth it. it doesn't come in a set, so you don't see them that often, much like the stubby version of same. I think that screwdriver sells for around $20, IIRC, and yeah If I were buying one, there are other better brands, but I got mine at yard sales...

since divesting my main box of craftsman screwdrivers, I only kept 2, that long flat and the stubby version...I'm liking the Kobalt set a lot, but the longest one is as long as the snap on ones I have, usually flats that long are much thinner which I don't care for personally but...to each his own.

They started doing that with tape measures. I didn't realize they're doing it with clamps now too. Pretty sleazy policy if you ask me.

I wouldn't be to quick to through away any Craftsman tools until we see what Stanley does.

That reminds me. Many years ago, when Home Depot started selling Husky tools, they were adamant that Husky hand tools were made by the same manufacturer as Craftsman hand tools, and that they would happily replace broken Craftsman hand tools with Husky versions. It might take a manager to facilitate, but I think it could be worth a shot, IF HD sells a comparable Husky tool in their open stock.

Minimal training should include the notions that you ask a person higher up the ladder and that you don't want dissatisfied customers walking out the door.

I would be unhappy if this happened to me. I assume that this is the item you are trying to warranty. Hopefully, you find a quick resolution. I would find out who to send an email to on this situation; Sears Customer Service needs to know about these incidents. Hopefully, the management will be smart enough to handle .....
