Lots of mixed opinions on them. Some are a fan of that new style Pro driver. Some (like myself) prefer the old style black handle ones. If he liked them get them! Not sure if either you or him are CC members. They have sales on them from time to time.

We are CC member. We use my card. So I was going to wait and see if they will be on sale in the book before I got them now. We use the card everytime we go to sears lol.

I have them but I have not used them much. However, they are great to have when you need them.

In general, I think the Craftsman Pro are good screwdrivers for the money. (There are better screwdrivers out there.) I have busted a few tips on the some but I have been able to get them replaced without much hassle.

From a performance/price combo, I think the following is a great deal but it probably duplicates what everyone already has.

We don't have much of a hassle returning stuff either. I turned some stuff in this passed weekend for my boyfriend. We go to the woman, because they just look at them and go get the tools cause they don't really know much about tools at our sears. :lol_hitti

I like the standard Cman drivers, they maybe wear a little faster than I would like but Sears is easy to deal with here. A buddy of mine managed to snap the tip on one of the pro-drivers on screws that came out easily with a standard one so i'm not a fan of the pros.

I compleately agree that they are great screwdrivers I had the origional craftsman with the clear handels and man did they ****. if you hands are greasy or oily you will not be able to turn them and also if you have a fasner that is stuck and needs that little push to get it to come out the craftsman pro has wrenching flats to rotate it with and even nicer yet is that if you need a given touqe on a fastner you can use a crowsfoot on a tourqe wrench (a little tricky but if you need a long reach tool for cheap these will work) feel good in your hands a grip pretty darn well i advise them and sears hand them on sale a while back I wish i had picked up that set and just used the small set i have now for home

GOOD LUCK

I have been using these screwdrivers for a while, with no complaints. I, too, prefer the older black-handled ones, but they don't make them anymore so no big deal.

You can find them on ebay all the time. Sometimes you can score unused black handles! I stocked up on them a while back. Love em!

Im not a huge fan of the clear handles...they are ok, but not my "go to" drivers.

How about getting your boyfriend one of the Gearwrench ratcheting driver kits when they are sale? They are pretty nice. I picked this one up for $20 around Christmas time. Or the Cman red handle ratcheting driver is pretty nice also. Just a thought.

I have both the Craftsman Pro soft grip set, and the clear handled ones. The Pros get used for turning screws only. The clear ones are my beater set, that get broken and exchanged on a regular basis. I have a couple that need to go back right now.

I'm very happy with the feel of the soft grips, as well as the fit of the tips to the fasteners.

I have an 8 pc set of C-Man Pro drivers. The handles are comfortable and the tips have held up pretty darn well.

A girlfriend that buy's her boyfriend tools!!!

Please put me on the backup list if you should ever break up.

Yes, Craftsman Pro are good and easy to replace. There are probably slightly better screwdrivers but this is a good all around choice.

:lol_hitti I'll keep that in mind. jk

Where can you get them? Anywhere that sells gearwrench? Maybe I'll check them out and see if he would like something like that. I got a couple things in mind and plus the screwdrivers. His birthday isn't until june, i just like to get started early.

I will have to check sears out when I am their. It just depends how he acts and how nice he is to me if he gets a lot of nice gifts. Sometimes I feel like he don't appreciate some of the tools I get him and just acts like he likes them, than they dont seem to ever be used.

I have the red & black screwdrivers and really like them. I just recently picked up the same in torx bits.

One feature the standard issue have over the Pros is the slot head handles have a red stripe and Phillip's heads are clear, you can tell one from another without actually having to look at the tip. That said, the Pros work fine and are the ones I grab first. Shoulda bought the neon orange set when they were available. Anyone out there that wants to get rid of a set, send me a PM.

I didn't like the feel of the 2 piece handle with the soft grip and alternating hard plastic inserts. I try to collect up all the older black handle craftsmans I see.

I bought the 10 pc pro set on sale for about $30. Mostly I like them, but at least one of the blades had a soft tip and twisted on the first fastener I used it on. I still use them, but not my first screwdriver to reach for, I like the old black handle snapon.
