Just ordered these: http://www.sears.com/craftsman-21-piece-metric-combination-wrench-set/p-00923048000P too cheap. I know, I know. The fit and finish is atrocious and the business ends are friggin' sharper than a laser beam...and the chrome is awful, stamping is awful, they feel worse than a cheap set I bought at HF a while back. That said...so friggin cheap.

Anyhoo. I'm missing a wrench from the set...does anyone know if there's a way to rectify this without having to trade emails back and forth with an unpaid intern until after the general election or mailing these things halfway back across the country like 5 more times until I get my tiny 9mm?

when I click that link I get:

"We're sorry, but this product is unavailable in the color and size(s) you selected. Please modify your selections and try again."

why do you need a 9mm? are you bleeding brakes on a Land Rover?

there is no shortage of Craftsman 9mm combination wrenches for sale in the second-hand market, and considering they are rarely, if ever, used you should be able to find a nice one easily (and cheap) on Ebay.

If the whole set has poor "fit & finish" along with the missing wrench, just ask for COMPLETE replacement from Sears. Can't be too hard to find Customer Service phone number for Sears on your paperwork.

Since you bought online . . . do you have Sears nearby with same set ??

Give Sears chance to make it right, either by phone or in person.

I was expecting them to be atrocious...they're just gonna sit in a drawer as a spare set...so I'm not overly concerned about it. ...but I do want that missing wrench.

I just don't want to deal with the rigamarole.

Basically, I was hoping someone here would say "yeah, brought mine up to sears when a similar thing happened and they gave me the wrench off the shelf and I was on my way."

Anyone have that story? haha

I have had a similar problem a couple of times with missing sockets in a socket set that I ordered. One time I took the receipt and went back to the store where they gave me the missing socket with no problems. The other time, the guy wanted me to exchange the whole set for another set in the store. Still no argument or issues from them in either case.

Sorry, I had two threads open and posted a reply in the wrong one.

If you have a store local that's what I'd try. I've had 2 similar issues in the past, one was resolved easily in store (when I still had one) the other one - I knew the original mfr of the tool set (it was a Cman set, made by Lang or Kastar I think) and I contacted them directly, explained the problem with my set, and they sent me the missing piece. Like you, I was hoping to avoid the headache since I didn't have a local store anymore.

Should have been a separate parts list sheet included with a 1-800 number on it to call if something is missing. You will get your wrench easier that way rather than calling random numbers at Sears or going to the store.
