Does this look like a complete Craftsman set, or are the pieces mix and match? Plus approx how old is it? There are no model numbers on any of the tools. Thanks.

Thanks! It seems it's missing the middle extension and that bar between the Breaker Bar and the Ratchet.

Here’s what the set set looked like back in 1960.

Thanks. I see the Ratchet doesn't go with the set. What was that plain skinny bar used for?

If you mean the crossbar, it's to spin the hinge handle ("flex handle") in its upright position. A good reminder that the modern, colloquial "breaker bar" is a very narrowly defining term.

Nice find. And nice set, Jim.

Yeah, what Lugz says! Thanks sir! The only thing I might add is that those cross bars were available for breaker bars in all three drive sizes (1/4”, 3/8” and 1/2”). They’re not the easiest things to find. They do show up on eBay occasionally.

Thanks. I bought it at an estate sale about ten years ago. The pieces were scattered in different tool boxes. In my other tools, I may have a crossbar and the correct ratchet.

I found a cross bar in my collection of tools. I couldn't locate a ratchet but I came close. The selector looks the same, but it has the -VG- # 44811 model number on it.

Nice job finding the cross bar! Those are not always easy to come by. The ratchet you’re looking for was manufactured at some point between 1956 and 1959/60. The ratchet you have was manufactured in the mid 1990s.

If you click on the Craftsman Teardrop Ratchet Type Study link below, you’ll go to page one of the type study. The ratchet you’re looking for is a Type 1, which is described in the first reply.

These are two other sets I have. One is a Fleet and the other is a Wright. The Fleet is missing the 9/16, and the Wright is missing the 9/16 & 1/2. If there was more in either of the sets, I'd be glad to know. Thanks.
