'evening....
Does anyone know anything about this Craftsman (Western Forge) diamond sharpening steel? I can't seem to find anything on them. Maybe they were a flop?
I was at a sale the other day and could not figure out just what I was looking at...an unfinished screwdriver???.... and I have multiple sharpening steels. The Craftsman handle blocked my brain from thinking. So far seems ok...

It’s a first for me. I never knew Craftsman offered such a tool.

Yes... I did find that link but it looks like an out of date (out of stock) listing for the steel so I discarded it. Seems like there would be more info, opinions or something out there on a Craftsman branded tool.

They used to come up with all sorts of things to stick on the end of those handles...

Probably just a short-run product that did not sell well and ended up being discontinued shortly thereafter...

I would classify it as "neat", but also kind of pointless unless you are a diehard CMan fan that wants every last little thing they made.

Could be right. One of the ladies at the sale told another her husband bought a box of them. Tried it on a couple of my knives. Seems to work pretty well. Hopefully the diamond surface holds. Hopefully I can find one of these diehards to take one off my hands to pay for the one I'll keep ;-)

Thanks
