Anybody know when they started making them? I was cleaning up my tool box today and found a date stamp on the bottom of the frame (I think that's what it is anyway) 2-71. The frame is gray with red drawers. I've been thinking of replacing the side box that I have hanging on there. I thought it would be kind of neat to find a matching one to hang on there. If they made a side cabinet in 1971 that is.

Don't quote me on this, but I THINK they were made in the late 80's early 90's.

The gray frame, red drawer boxes were some of craftsman's best boxes (standard grade). In the 80's they changed to a red frame, black / grey drawer combo, with a center drawer pull, then later a top drawer pull like today.

I have the 1972-73 catalog and there is no mention of a side cab.

Yup, that sounds like what I'll have to do if I want them to match. And right now in the middle of the night, that sounds like a pretty good idea.;) Now if I can just find that texture looking silver that craftsman used. And an old emblem.
