Do you have a link? I looked on both Sears and Craftsman websites and I'm not seeing those prices.

No link, I received email notice from www.dealnews.com

You have to be signed into Craftsman Club to see these prices at checkout...

As I am an old dude, and thus not an astute tech weenie, that is the best I can do...

Deal ends on 23 March...

Just tried the 1/4" set and the price shows as $49.99 at checkout "before Coupon Code",
so it "should work"...

Hope this helps...

I had to go to a couple stores to to get all 3 made in USA. I don't know why but these sets seem nicer and better quality than the normal sets. Maybe I'm just crazy. These are great sets if you can get the USA set. The ratchets are surprisingly nice and I find myself using them more and more

Everything is made in china. Sockets ratchets and extensions. I drove around to 3 stores to get all USA. I may pick up the 10pc wrench and the brake tool module soon. As soon as finances permit it

Just like everything else at sears. It is/was just have to watch and check before you buy it. The one I saw at my closest store was USA.

I don't have a full sears anywhere nearby so I can't look for old USA stock. My strategy was to order this set: Craftsman 44 pc. Easy Read Socket Set, 6 pt. Standard and Deep, 1/4 in. Dr.. I believe th 44 pc set includes the same sizes as the 1/4" module, and as far as I know, it is still made in USA (if it isn't, I'll return it and mention it here). I've been watching the price fluctuate over the last few weeks, and it's been between $49.99 and $40.49 (craftsman club price), and is usually - and currently - at $44.99. A USA 1/4" thin profile craftsman ratchet can be had for at or under $20 on ebay if you have to have one and the extensions are widely available on the cheap.

So, since the module usually runs about $50, if you can buy the 44 pc set at $40.49 - $44.99, you can pick up a USA ratchet on ebay and still be fairly close to the module price (minus a few extensions). This is all assuming I'm correct about the 44 pc set still being USA. The website photo still shows USA on the 44 pc sockets.

I was hoping to find a 3/8" set and looked for the US made everywhere near me, no luck. Looking at the loose ratchets they don't seem to be china made. The ones at my store were from Taiwan.

Sad to say, but just holding them and spinning them I couldn't tell the difference. This is obviously a superficial assessment of the quality and longevity of the tool, but in short it didn't seem to be total ****.

The price sounds good. I wonder if the 3/8" and 1/2" sets are the same too. It looks like they aren't dual marked though. My concern would be the laser etch would fade over time with considerable use. How's the chrome look on them? I've noticed some G2 series items have a tinted look to them compared to the older chrome stuff.

The chrome seems a little "tinted" as you put it. On the other hand the Chineese sockets have a some what brighter chrome look when compared side by side. The chrome quality looked bad on the sets I looked at. They almost looked pitted or like they chromed over chips in the metal. All the chineese sets had this look
