I've got a guy who says he may have a Craftsman speed ratchet for the wife's collection. What would be a decent, fair, price to offer him for it? I looked on Ebay a bit and didn't realize what they want on there, nor would I pay that! I figure somebody on here will chime in on a price that seems fair for both of us!

Depending on condition, nice ones can go for $125 or higher.

Thank you for your input! I just wanted to know a fair price in case he did or did not have something in mind. Try to keep it fair on both ends!

The one you’re looking at isn’t mint, but it’s nice, so it might be less, but generally they average about $100. That‘s going from mint condition examples down to user grade examples. The two depicted below are probably in the $125 ++ range for comparison purposes.

That picture was just an example. I have yet to see rhe one I'm talking about. I ran into an old friend of my Uncles while I had a handful of old ratchets and he just started telling me about this " weird Craftsman ratchet" so I found a pic to verify what he's telling me.

There are a few variations. I have seen a couple different handle colors.

Mine has the black handle and the copper tone finish on the selector.

I knew nothing about these until I saw them on GJ years ago. Not long after reading about these ratchets, I found one on the last day of an estate sale. A cardboard poster was leaning against the open door of a top box. So I moved the poster to see if anything good was behind the door… 3 days of guys looking for tools… and nobody found it…

I have barely touched it since the day I bought it other than to take the occasional picture of it.
