craftsman spline sockets/wrenches

Anyone have any experience with these spline drive sets? I was at sears the other day and they had these sets on sale. I didn't pick it up because im kinda skeptical about how useful they would really be. It would be nice to only have to carry 1 set around because im a road tech for a forklift company and lugging tools is a pain. I would be open to other brands too if you all think the craftsman isn't worth it but would like to know what you think about spline sockets/wrenches in general

i have a set of the metric wrenches and sockets. the sockets are ok. I use them on external torx sockets in exhaust manifolds.

i keep them in my road box. they are reasonably useful. i used them to take drive shafts on and off.

Why not buy E-Torx sockets?

Because the spline sockets work fine and it's very rarely we take off 13 liter manifolds.

I have e torx sockets in standard, but these motors are metric. Not worth the price to me just yet

sorry, i forgot i have standard 8 point sockets. not the E torx. had a brain fart

Thats how rare i use them, and thats why i just use the universal socket set

I've used mine for removing square nuts and bolts and for the occasional rounded bolt head

thing that bothers me is the sockets are missing 12 and 15 mm which are very common with what I do. The 12 is the real killer that's by far the most common faster i work with

They actually have a metric and a SAE set. The Metric set is more useful as it work on etorx, the SAE size is not as good.

Lowes learn that with the Xterme that is why they are going with a metric and SAE set.

I use spline more and more now a days with more etorx showing up in Europe. They do a really good job actually. I use proto ratcheting spline over the sears ones, as they have a 13 piece set covering 7-19mm. Been very happy with them taking off 12pt, 6pt and etorx.

But do get a Metric and SAE set do not try metric on standard and standard on metric except for he 3 sizes that are super close.

I hate it when they skip sizes. I brought a power built set and had to build out the set form 8-19 with bgs and craftsman spline.

I've got the SAE/Metric set w/ the 3/8 drive ratchet about 1 1/2 years ago. It's my 'go-to' socket set and has performed fine. I agree with the aggravation over skipping sizes.

its one thing to skip rarer sizes like 20, even 11 or 16 I dont see often. But 12? That's just idiotic. If they sell the 12 as a single i could get over it but i didnt look into it yet. If they dont that might be the dealbreaker for me. I haven't seen too many reviews of people that say they are a must have to justify not having that size. But i still think itd be nice to only have to carry 1 set instead of 3or 4.
