Craftsman table saw w/Planer

I've just joined this group, with the purpose of disposing of a Craftsman Tilt-Arbor table saw with a planer attachment as a "free to good home" item. It belonged to my uncle decades ago, and since we're in downsizing mode, it has to go. It seemed that someone in this group might find a use for it, either for parts or as a restoration project.

I can tell you the motor runs on 110 volts. The motor turns by hand - in other words, it's not seized - but does not spin when power is applied. It's on a stand of its own, so it's a bit bulky and heavy.

I've attached pictures to show the condition of the saw, and although I'm not a woodworker, I'll answer what questions I can. At this point, the first person who's willing to show up in Hudson MA and claim it is welcome to it. I believe you should be able to contact me by email.

I don't think I have ever seen a table saw with a jointer attached. I wonder if the jointer runs whenever the saw runs? If it does, that would quite dangerous.

If it's like the old Delta unit I had, the motor is double ended shaft with a pulley on each end. Depending on whether you need to run the saw or the jointer, you remove the belt for the opposite device.

That jointer still needs a guard on the cutter head.

On a second look, no way a cutter guard could be sued without severely limiting the use of the table saw. My Delta had the jopinter mounted several inches below the table saw so that was not an issue.

OP, welcome to the forum and what a great gesture to give this to a member.

Yes, It was nice of you to offer it up to the group.
welcome from me also,
stick around, it is a nice group !
man with tools, yes, I have the delta combo unit (is yours a Tilt table, and the table goes up and down, not the arbor)I see what you mean about having a guard on that model. (set up, I should say).
Actually the delta I have is "waiting in line" to be restored.
"psychob0b1977"..........I had that very saw, (minus the Jointer)
and can tell you this much, It is a very very accurate little saw!
Built lots of nice things with it.

The Delta I had was a very conventional little (8" or 9" I think) table saw and conventional 4" jointer mounted on a common frame. The disadvantage was if you were set to make a bevel cut on the table saw, you had to return it to 90 degrees if you needed to use the jointer.

It was a great little machine, I built an entire kitchen full of cabinets with it and it got me started in the cabinet making business. Eventually I used it mainly for small jointing jobs and had the saw setup to make hinge cuts in door frames exclusively.

Mine was like this, only newer with an open frame stand:

As suggested, this does have a double-ended motor shaft, so the belt drive gets connected to whichever item you wish to use. There is also a cover/guard for the planer - I simply had it off to show the entire top surface.

And I appreciate the kind words about giving this away, but it'a also a win/win for me. I don't have to move or store this as I downsize, and someone gets something they can use.

If you still have this unit I love to have it! This was the unit my Grandfather had when I was growing up!
I can be reached at: [email protected]
THANK YOU,
Mark

If anyone has one like this I would have interest in it.
Thank you,
Mark

Is the table saw with planer still available?

Did you find a taker for your Craftsman? If you did do you know where I could find another one?

Thank you,

Mark
