Now that these have been out for a couple of years, and people have had the chance to beat on them for a while. I was wondering what everyone thinks of them. For the record I use mine several days a week and they are still my favorites bar none including the 60 tooth Matcos.

I still like the 42 tooth round head ratchet the best; it's real smooth and just feels right; the only thing I like about the thin profile ratchet is the handle .. :)

I have all three and I really like them. They provide a lot of torque and are easy to hold. The only downside for the 3/8" and 1/2" models is they are heeaavyy when wrenching in one spot for a while, especially over your head.

Very nice design.

I have the 3/8" low profile and it's become my go to ratchet for that range. In 1/2" I use the craftsman round handle because the fat handle dosn't bite into my skin.

There are a lot of people who like this ratchet... too bad it's a "catalog only" item. :(

i already had old craftsman ratchets and it work good. i had no problem with it. i dont like round head ratchet because it is too thicj head and would not go where i need to do repair....that why i have 36 teeth ratchets and it is so easy change "on or off" than round head ratchets...... i am understand that some of you on this forum is not doing wrench turn for living as i am do for dealership so i need to get job done quick......

If your talking about the ones here then NO. I used my 3/8" a handful of times and it is already jumping teeth on me. I stepped up and bought some used Snap-On.

I am the ***** and moan queen about tools. I have that ratchet, 7 of the 11 others are Snap-ons. 2 are gearless no names, and 1 is a Mac, 1 is a Matco.

That ratchet stopped me from buying a Snap-on in the same size for a long time. I forget how I ended up with the Snap-on ratchet, but I think it was part of an auction that included a few things I kinda needed. But, since I got the Snap-on, I've really moved away from it. It's nice to use sometimes now, and if I send someone to my box while I'm under the car, I won't *****. But my Snappy with the plastic handle just feels so much more...

catalog only item pretty much when you are looking for all 3 drives at once. 79.99 for all 3 drives. they have a titanium finish also for 129.99. keep in mind its just a coating, they are NOT made of titanium.

No, not the 60 tooth ratchets - I'm talking about the 42 tooth round head ratchets... those things are damn near indestructable from what I hear. Tyhey are not stocked at any Sears that I have ever been to, but you can sometimes find them under the Allen brand at Menards or under the Easco brand (NOS) at DO It Best hardware stores.

i love my craftsman teardrop ratchets. i use it every for my living but i had bought used snap on 1/2dr industry orignal handle and long handle ratchets from my auto mech teacher for 80 dollars. he used it a lot before then i has it and use it a lot of time. it is working good.

i had few mac tool round head ratchets (long handle and flex head) i dont like craftsman's 1/4dr ratchet because it keep drop socket after i got it replacement adter gear selective had spring missing....

i bought few used snap on ratchets from ebay... i love to use snap on ratchets for work on automotive. also i prefer snap on ratchet because it keep dirty out of ratchet as it have cover on it. i did had craftsman but dirty get in and destroyed teeth..... there is PROs and CONs about all brand ratchets. none of them have no problems but still they can have less problem....

Hey Deafautotech ... you need to try the round head quick release ratchet; the head is really not that big; I think once you've tried it, you'll be hooked ..

i had round head ratchet from mac tool and it is very thin head (it is 1/4dr) but i dont own any round head ratchet above 3/8dr and 1/2dr because i did try at sears store and it is thick and heavy than teardrop ratchets....

The action is really nice, but they are very heavy ratchets. Thats one of the downfalls of my Snap On Index head.

My Old snap On comfort grip ratchet is still one of my favorites because it is so light. That is also why I like SK 1/4 ratchets... you can simply swing a lighter ratchet faster than a heavy one with elss fatigue on your wrist.

You cant get by working proffessionally with just one style of ratchet. Certain jobs call for different ratchets. A Round head SK is much nicer for repetitive work on low drag fasteners because the action is so smooth. Snap On ratchets have a solid feel on a rusty fastener... the drawback to them is that the pawl spring is stronger so the nut/bolt needs more drag to ratchet off.

it is best for tight area. but most of time i use my mac tool AR251 1/4dr to remove almost anything that i want to but for re-assembly as use ratchet to make a torque with torque wrench....

I have 1/4" 3/8" & 1/2" in the round head fine tooth craftys. I have used them for most of 30 years without a hitch or complaint. Of the many ratchets I have, I started with those, and still routinely pick them up first.

i only have the 1/2"... still need to get the other two. i love the feel of it, but agree that it's a freakin' tank for the length... makes it a bit ponderous once you get the fastener broken loose.

Same here ... I have Husky's, Snap On's, Matco, Indestro and many more, but I go straight for the Craftsman fine tooth; mine are probably 30 plus years old and I was worried if I could still get replacements, so I bought an extra 1/2" and 3/8" from Sears online ... recently :)

Flathead Youngin: the 42 tooth round ratchet is craftsman ratchet as round head ratchet. It is not teardrop ratchet that craftsman do sell more than round head ratchet. the teardrop ratchet use 36 tooth that mean use 10 degree while 42 tooth make less degrees than teardrop ratchet......

I have all three of the thin pro line, as well as the 5 RHFT (round head fine tooth) tank style ratchets. For your searching, here is the numbers
43187
43781
42794
44977
44983

Sears would do so much better if they allowed you to choose the ratchets in the sets. I've always threatened to take back the standard ratchets and exchange them for a gift card, to get some of the catalog only items.
