Does anyone know how thick the heads are on these ratchets? I played with one at Sears yesterday and was really impressed with how comfortable the handles were.

Gotta love southern california traffic. Took almost an hour to get home. Anyway, my micrometer seems to have grown legs and wandered off so I went with my calipers. The attached picture should explain it all. from left to right the measurements are, body with selector, quick release to driver end, quick release to body, and just the body thickness.

This is a 3/8's ratchet, measurements in inches.

Let me know if you want any other specs.

I find that my C-man 3/8" thin profile is much thinner than the snap-on 3/8", however the thin profile 1/2" drive and the snap-on 1/2" drive are about the same thickness. Just food for thought...

Looking at that photo of the 3/8" it looks like the quick release button projects much farther than on mine. Hmmm...mine is basically flush with the head.

The picture was courtesy of the sears.com site. it seemed like my quick release didn't protrude as far either but it definitely comes up out of the ratchet. I wouldn't mind one that had a flush quick release, but I have yet to run into clearance issues.

At least on my three ratchets, the QR button draws into the ratchet body when you put a socket on it. Once the socket is on, it does not protrude at all. Not sure if this is by design or if it just happens on some.

Man, I hated those ratchets. Decent action and very nice slim head, but even the 3/8 weighs a TON. I did like the 1/4 drive but not enough to keep. I imagine the 1/2 is like holding a brick.
My release buttons were pretty much flush as well, but I sold them.

They are kind of heavy. Not that, solid heavy feel, but heavy in general. I thought I'd like the handle shape but, in practice, I like my round handled ratchets much better (both SO and old Cman pros with the knurled twisters on top).
