Did Craftsman make different thin profile ratchets? I see different pictures of them. One has an oval shaped handle and has Craftsman stamped on it. Those I have seen in stores. The other picture I have seen has a handle more like the premium ratchet with no words, still with a socket release. I have never seen one of those. Thanks..

I believe that's the same ratchet, just an odd profile on the picture, or it's an "artist's rendering" that doesn't show the stamping. I don't believe they sell an unstamped version.

That said, yes, there are two different versions of the same model ratchet: The US and the Asian-import.

They have the same model number, but use different maintenance kits.

All same design with exceptions.

Older USA model has Made in USA stamp.

Current model no COO stamp.

Pic may have been a prototype or mave have had C'man and model number stamped on the other side.

They also came in gold chrome and blue chrome finish as well.
Well, the USA one's did years ago.

Guts from the USA and Chinese sourced units are said to be non-compatible.

Pic of design you post is same for both. Only missing stamping in pic.

I'm guessing that's a photo of the original US-made version that's had it's markings removed in Photoshop due to the COO complaints.

Perspective is a little off, but USA on top China(Taiwan) on bottom.

Had the USA set and wanted to get a second set before the COO change, but I missed it. Didn't even realize it until a year or so later.

I believe the non USA ones are Taiwan made. I have the USA versions and they are very nice ratchets. I would bet the Taiwan made ones are good too. Would I buy the Taiwan ones? No. But that's me. My local sears hardware has 4 of the3 PC sets USA made but all the loose stock is Taiwan.

I dropped my old usa 3/8 and broke the selector. I had to warranty for an import. Id agree, its possibly Taiwan. The only difference I noticed is my import has a steel qr button (us was plastic) and it weighs a bit more. So far, Im just as happy with the import.

Yea there shoudnt be too much difference in them at all. Now the sockets on the other hand? You thought the USA sockets were bad. The China are down right bad. The E-torx set you could not even read what size or even who made it.
