Been awhile since I've posted anything but the strangest thing just happened.

One of my tombstone bench grinders just came in all by itself.

I was on the other side of the shop doing some welding when I heard a whirring sound.

I went to check it out and the grinder was running and some smoke was coming from the base.

I had been using it a few hours y and initially thought that I must not have turned it fully off, but the switch was off. I pulled the plug and gave it a few minutes to cool before pulling it apart. The switch failed, metal dust maybe?

Anyhow just had to share.

Sounds to me your switch has a short in it and need to be replaced which is easy to do and not expensive all you need is a single pole (115volt or a double pole which is used for 230 volt.) single throw toggle switch which you can get practically anywhere for around 8 to 12 dollers.
