Yes, but with a sufficient support pin, the top box hinge can be re-inserted thus preventing the possibility of the lid flopping down and taking out a finger, eye or creating a head wound. If you think it can happen, it usually will.
He's defeating two safety/security systems there. I was just trying to be helpful. Sorry. :(
No, see ,that is really not the hinge for the top, the actual hinge is like a piano hinge that runs the full length of the lid.
The part that looks like a hinge, or hinge section, is actually just there to
pivot and raise and/or lower the locking bar.
Possibly defeating security Yes, safety, No.
Every thing is safe and secure.
Hope that makes sense.

As for the gas shocks for the HF cart, replacemetns from HF are around $15ea. plus shipping and those from teh local and even online rv/camper stores are higher.

Hood and hatch shocks are too high of a psi, so I went Snap-On hinge retro fit. Lifetime warranty and way simpler and far more reliable years from now.

Good Deal, I had found one of your old post's, but it didn't show as resolved.
How much for the S-O shocks?

The cotter pin I was talking about is the one for the locking bar, and AFAIK that has nothing to do with keeping the lid up? Or am I missing something? :dunno:

Right, the locking bars are just resting on the cotter pins, and the cotter pins resting on the bottom of the top tray.
Say if I wanted to move the box, and wanted to lock the drawers, I could just pull out the cotter pins, the locking bars would slide down, locking the drawers, and I am on my way.
I had taken some pictures before I took the pins out, but they did not come out good at all. That might have shown it better.

great price on a toolbox. I have the red/black 26 inch wide griplatch and love it. Ive actually been thinking of selling it for a longer unit.

Thanks, Yeah, like I said, I was gonna get the HF 8 upper/8 lower but this came along for even less money, I couldn't pass it up.
Thinking about some drawer liners now, The dollar store has these 16 x 24 rugs for a dollar each, sort of like a welcome mat, thinking about them. Would need 18, want them to get me all the same color though.

thats a good deal for sure, I always liked my craftsman boxes, I have 4 now, and am bringing 2 home from work to swap out for my bigger mac box as i have ran out of room, if i didnt already have a bigger mac, i would have looked for a similar box with griplatch as well online.

Yeah, I might look into those, I can't find my note I had, about the size's and length I need, but I think 22.5 is wide enough for the wide drawers.
Free shipping orders over $20.00 too.

I have the same Griplatch cabinet and chest. I lined the drawers with the Zerust liners that I purchased at Lowes. I needed four rolls, with just a few scrap pieces left that I put in the top of the chest where the lid rises.

Oh so Lowes has it too, is it in the tool section?
Did they have the 22.5 x 118"? Is that the size you got?

Edit
here it is,

Don't tell you the length, but 1 of the reviews tells you it's the 118"

Wow and I thought I scored with a 26" version w/o griplatch or $120.... I'd much rather have yours! GripLatch is awesome and under rated by some. I just took the lock bars out and it's much nicer than always lifting the top. Nice find.
