I bought this for $50.00 with the intention of cleaning it up and using it. It's 46" wide, 24" deep and 24" tall. I can't find a model number on it, can anyone give me an idea of the age or model number? I would like to find a drawer for the lower right that is missing

Not sure, but didn't that era of boxes have a sticker somewhere on the inside of one of the drawers with the model number on it ??????

Pretty sure you are correct on that. And am thinking drawer might still be available thru sears or waterloo. Just a hunch on drawer availability.

Are you positive that's actually a Craftsman? Doesn't look like any I've ever seen, unless maybe it's some upper level pro-like model from that era? :dunno:

That's sure a interesting box and hell of buy at $50. I've never seen a Craftsman box like that better especially one with those dimensions. The 46 wide and 24 deep would lead me to think more of a pro box.

It was used in the Maint. Department in a Nuke Plant. Guy I got it from said they just upgraded boxes and he drug this one home. The Craftsman emblem seems like it belongs on the box, it has the mounting tabs through the metal..it's not glued on. It is heaver than heck too

I removed all the drawers and still no model numbers. With my luck it was on the missing drawer. I did find what looks like a QC mark on the bottom of a coupe drawers that has OK 1998. Assuming that 1998 is the ear it was built. It also uses Accuride drawer slides

I'd do a little more investigative work and pull the emblem off and see if the holes are stamped and painted, or just drilled? Stamped would be factory, drilled would suggest it was added by someone.

Looks like old Waterloo magnum series, which were also sold as craftsman pro series/industrial.

This is the first post that makes any sense.

Putting a Craftsman emblem on a pro box sure as hell doesn't.

No way in hell would I "do a little more investigative work and pull the emblem off" just because of the risk it gets broken or doesn't fit back in place tight & right like it does now.

That's from the 80's and I'm sure is the same as a waterloo Mangum. If somebody could find some craftsman catalogs from the 80'shock, I'd bet we would see some cool professional or industrial series boxes many of us have never seen.

you can buy the drawer from searsparts.com

No such site. I'm guessing you meant searspartsdirect.com

I'll be surprised if they still carry it but even if they do it's going to be tough to get the right drawer without knowing the model number of the box. Hopefully somewhere inside that box there is some identification or someone here helps come up with it.

I contacted Waterloo and found out parts are not available for the box but I did find out the model number and a parts list.

What are the dimensions of the deeper drawers?
Maybe you could find two deeper drawers or three thin drawers to fit that space???

MODEL NO. 706.653291
Have it in Primer. Using Rustoleum primer cut with Acetone 4:1 and I am going to use Rustoleum Implement paint cut 4:1 with Acetone and Enamel Hardener. Hope to get some Massey Ferguson Red on it Wednesday the 4th.
If anyone has any tips or tricks for painting let me know. I am using HVLP set at 22 lbs psi for air pressure. primer went on nice and covered well so I think I'll use the same settings for the red. I added a photobucket link ofit in primer, and i have a pdf file for the box from Waterloo if anyone is interested
