Craftsman Tool box ?

I found a toolbox at a local pawn shop. I didn’t buy it yet, but I am sure it’s not one of a kind so Craftsman box guys may be able to answer my questions.
This box was about 20” wide with two drawers. It was a carry style. What made it interesting was that it had wood grain applications on it and the “craftsman” logo was moved to the top... in its place on the lower right corner was a crossed checkered flags emblem. I have seen other vintage craftsman stuff with a similar logo. The flags are not exactly the same each time. But similar.
What vintage would these be from?
What event or race are they tied to? Or just “ racing “ in general ?
Not super impressed with cheesy wood grain graphics, but I thought the crossed flags were really cool. Reminds me of older Chevrolet emblems.

Back in the 70s, my friend had one of these awful looking things. If this is what you're asking about, I saw one at the local flea market for 20 bucks and no one wanted it.

Think it was called the Rally tool box, from the 70's as I remember. Thought they were cool and wanted one at the time, but never got one. Not tied to an event or anything, marketed towards auto enthusiasts, hot rodders and the like. Here's a pic I found on the web.

I am definitely a little behind the times. But I think it’s kind of a cool. In the 90s I sold cars, I remember them unloading a brand new Buick Roadmaster station wagon with about an acre of wood grain decal... top of the line.

I have 3 of the rally boxes, I use them to store my "in the house" tools on my basement workbench. They're fine for that purpose or to keep in the trunk. I think the retro wood grain decals are kind of cool.

If I see one around here I will snag it for you. The one that was at the local flea sat there for half the season. I don't know what became of it but I suspect that the vendor let it go for a few dollars.

I'm pretty sure I've posted this before, but you are all right. It is a Rally Box. I have mine on top of an old tv stand which matches the faux wood.

Sure, I recall those. I never was attracted to the style, they seemed cheesy w/the vinyl wood applique'. Now if they did something that had an engine-turned appearance, like the engine block of a Bugatti, or the dashboard of a Studebaker Golden Hawk, well, then I might be interested.

I used the Craftsman two-or-three drawer carry boxes for my tools at first, and soon out-grew their storage capacity, but I still have a couple filled with my duplicates, or older tools. The red one I bought new, the grey one, used. Both are 30+ years old, best I can recall. The original toolboxes I had are long-ago rusted-away, these were replacements. I started collecting tools for repairing my own stuff over 50 years ago. I think it was bicycles and slot cars in the early 1960's that motivated me to start asking for tools for my birthday or for Christmas.

Found this one at auction full of tools couldn't tell what it was. Someone painted it red. Once I started restoring it I caught myself saying thats not rust its wood grain. Now to find something to work in it place on the top ill be more careful now that I know it's on the drawers too
