I had a good friend call me today to come look at this tool box. Its never been used and other than a little dirty looks like new. Been sitting where I took the picture for at least 20 years . I sort of want it but I have no clue what one like this is worth. I couldn't get around to it good enough to see a model because of where its sitting. Maybe someone here has one or knows close to what the value would be. Its a want, not a need. I know harbor freight has them and this one probably came from the same country HF's does.
Any tips appreciated.

A friend had one. I've had similar, and I definitely had that middle box (around $65 new IIRC). The slides are a bit crappy.

For the whole thing, $100-$200. $50 is too low, well for the seller not buyer. Buying new would get you a worse combo "deal" or you will spend $200 just for a similar bottom cabinet.

The Craftsman boxes with the locking bars in front were the bottom of the line boxes. I have one with a plastic workbench top. It's not very good but I paid very little for it around 2001-02. The boxes pictured are probably worth more than $50, but not much more.

Weird coincidence. I read this thread this morning, I vaguely remember those Craftsman boxes from the early 2000s, never knew anyone personally that had them, but remember them as being not of the best construction.

This afternoon, I was binge watching old episodes of FantomWorks while I was tending to my fiancé who has Covid and noticed this:

I know I made this post last year but I was wondering how much weight one of these could handle ?
He said he would take $100 for it. Its brand new and has been sitting in his shop for at least 25 years.
I really don't need it but it would be nice to have to keep some of my older tools in. They are now all over my shop and I fumble trying to find them when I need them which isn't very often.

Used everyday in a shop, this would fall apart.
Kept in a home garage to store tools, it will be ok.

I have some of the later Sears Craftsman ones that only hold woodworking tools.
As long as all the drawers have ball bearing slides, I'd take a shot for $100.
If they are fiction slides, I'd pass. Those get worse over time and with weight.

Should be about the base model Cman box. It'll have friction slides.

$20/box ($60 total) would be fair for me to offer. I don't need it so I probably wouldn't be interested in it.

However, it's your friend and if you're good with $100, then buy it.

I went ahead and bought the box for $100. Its brand new with manual and papers still in the drawers. For what I plan on using it for its perfect . My working for a living in the shop days are long behind me.
I have a Mac tool box I bought when I was working in this shop. Its now at my home. I bought it new in 1980 and it has the friction slide drawers. There is no comparison in the 45 year old Mac to this Craftsman . Never once an issue with the friction drawers on it. I remember the price on the Mac box back then was $500.
I appreciate all the tips on this classic craftsman.

Forgot to add that his toolbox was made in the USA. The metal is very thin though and I could see how this wouldn't work very good for a pro.
Perfect for the occasional user like me.
