The professional line are actually pretty nice and well made; they are worlds away from the stuff they sell in the stores.... that being said, I would love to have a Snapon 10k KRL series box! LOL! If you were going to buy new; you could probably find a nice used Snapon for cheap; especially right now!

Stay away from Craftsman Boxes, you're better off storing them in aluminum foil.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. This has been up and down a 1/4 mile long hangar repeatedly, and gets rolled around 5-15 times a day. It's held up just fine for 6 years. There are at least ten of them at work, not one has had any issues.

nissan_crawler - what sort of caster setup do you have there? Is that a homebrew or something available by special order through Sears? Was that done just to reduce height or were the Craftsman casters not good enough?

nissan_crawler is the definition of "home brew"; he does whatever it takes to make things his "own"; LOL! Check out the custom made top and caster system; I've never seen anyone do these type of modifications to his box... cool stuff, I say!
nissan_crawler, you should fabricate some crazy "tubular" look push handle for your box; that would be my request for your next "home brew" modification!

It all depend on which series box you buy; they sell the "home" series with a metal bar over the front to secure the box, I would consider these to be equivalent to "tin foil" and the quality goes as high as the professional series; which actually have a lifetime warranty! I do think the low to midrange boxes have gone down in quality, compared to what they used to be, however! You get what you pay for and tool boxes in the Craftsman line reinforce this concept; from total junk up to over $6000 for a nice pro grade top/bottom!

:wtf: That's quite possibly the dumbest thing I'll read all day. Do you have any actual evidence to back this ridiculous statement up???

I do. I have stored "corn on the cob" and baked potatoes in aluminum foil on the grille and it worked great. Stored in a craftsman box didn't work worth a hoot. :lol_hitti

It's homebrew. It was partly to lower it to get under wings. Even with a 2" thick top and 8" wheels vs. the factory 6" wheels, it's still 3/4" lower than normal.

I wanted bigger casters, also. It rolls right over hair hoses and electrical cords without having to pick them up.
