Back in the days of being a bachelor I had mine inside my old house because of no garage. Heck, I even had my moto's parked in the kitchen at one time and had a "bike room" Not anymore.
OK in the laundry room; maybe cool for an accent piece here or there. But a Steevo-Style workbench in the kitchen? While I find it interesting, can you imagine how quickly you would tire of the rough, squeaky open and closing in the kitchen?
I can see someone ten years from now starting a thread..."Where can I find replacement slides for my kitchen cabinet?".
Speaking as some who has two Husky 3 drawers tool boxes sitting on a Werner work platform in his living room. I use them as small item/mail/paper storage. But I'm single and can do what I want.
I'm all for some of the re-purposing shown here. In most cases though, I think removal of the brand badge would add a lot more style to the pieces.
We have thought about building a low maintenance small cabin on our lake lot. My wife suggested using tool chests and cabinets in the kitchen.
Regards,
John
The funny thing is that for the kitchen, nicer real cabinets would be much cheaper than the toolboxes. Even though it seems "frugal", those rollers can be hundreds or thousands, even from lower end brands. The bathroom one looks cool, though.
When I put a new roof on my girlfriends house she bought me a toolbox as a thank you.
Since my little barn did not have a solid floor I kept it in my kitchen. She rarely came over my place so it was several months before she saw it there, she did not approve. When I moved in with her she told me to build a garage as there was no room in the house for
my tools. Don't think she realized that the garage would end up being only 60 square feet
smaller than her house. Should have made it bigger but zoning was already being difficult.
Neat ideas, don't think they would fit with my interior décor though, good thinking on craftsman marketing people to broaden their sales base of a slumping company.
