Does anyone know what this Craftsman tool is? I’m guessing it was intended to be for removing stripped or damaged bolts or nuts but am certainly not sure.

Hello everyone, just joined. Been reading and enjoying this website for a while, not techie and never joined a forum before. My question to people more intelligent them me is, I have a cool I believe very early Craftsman Tools level and Square, both measure 18 inches. Good size square, I believe there was etching of some type on the squares metal, not readable anymore. Can’t find anything on these two, my guess is a presentation set or a salesman sample showing off a new companies quality, the logo burned into both I believe is the original logo design that was used from 1928 to mid 1930’s. I will now try to add images, thanks for looking any help would be great. Also the square handle has a metal knob, that facing into the square. Can’t figure out what that is either.

Not special or old at all sold for a gift pack thing and I don't think they say made in USA on them because they were not.

The knob on the fat face is to keep it from falling off an edge due to its weight. Removable when you need the whole face. Thinks it's an anniversary tool, newer as noted above, but decent.

hello Tom02 and welcome to the site!

you will want to keep this link handy

and this one too.

and just below you can click on that notepad *.txt file and download Mr. Gary Lauver's definitive list of Craftsman production codes. ;)

(* unfortunately that's the last update on that list I know of... so some newer production codes aren't included. - bk *)
