Craftsman toolbox lock set work for a Husky box?

I got a Husky top and bottom box. I have keys for the top but not for the bottom. I figured for the money I should just buy a new lock set for both and make them the same key. Has anyone used the craftsman set for a Husky box? Not so much worried about the top chest. More concerned about the rod in the bottom box. Do Husky and Craftsman boxes use the same length and shape of rod?

Thinking about this set.

I don't know about that barrel lock set, but the standard CM lock and key sets can be made to work in a few different setups if it fits in the hole. I was able to install a set in a Waterloo box and Snap-on road box so I could have one key for the both of them. Took no modification at all.

I can answer part of that question. I have found that the opening in the back of the bottom lock that fits the rod can vary, even among Craftsman boxes. There apparently is no standard rod end for Craftsman. Husky rods? Who knows. Best if you take the bottom lock out of your box and take it with you when you go shopping for a new lock...and... GOOD LUCK!

A few years back I fell into a deal on a Husky box floor model that I couldn't pass up, but there were no keys. One call to Waterloo, I explained my situation and gave them the number code on the lock and they mailed me new keys, instruction manuals (really?), and the "accessory kit" the saw was sold with. Maybe call and see if they can help you out.

I did email HD and got this response:

Thank you for contacting The Home Depot. I want to advise you that you can contact Husky at 1-888-HD-Husky (1888-434-8759), and an agent can further assist you with ordering a replacement set of keys. Thank you for being a valued Home Depot shopper. Have a great day!

Thank you,

Figured since they said, "assist you with ordering" it meant, I'd have to pay for them. I may call and see but if I have to pay I'd rather have matching locks.

My Husky was made by Waterloo so I skipped straight to them. I'm not 100% sure if this is the number I called, but I dug out my paperwork and the number I have is 1-800-833-4405. Of course, it also depends on if Waterloo made your box for Husky or not. I suppose one more call can't hurt.

shouldn't be too hard make something work the rod right, as long fit hole and cam looks workable you should be able adapt them no major ball ache, worth looking in good hardware shops and locksmiths too as these cabinet style locks used on loads of stuff.
If get some get at least one spare lock assembly as covers another box lock if ever expand or get a truck box or something or a cylinder breakage .
I learn't hard way as bought in pack of 2 to match up my shop boxes to 1 key, then year later had a small box in my truck and another bottom roller cabinet bench thus another 2 keys which ***** :-S
Had buy 4 new locks keyed alike, wish I had bought spare originally, was easy get cylinder working on all boxes, one need hole made little bigger and 2 need cam modded which was easy do by crossing original lock cams with new ones

Well this is what the Husky/Craftsman compare looks like. I will try calling the Husky number first, then the waterloo number (thanks Bare) and see if I can get some keys for free. I did email 3 locksmith companies around me and got no response....?

The craftsman is too short and the rod opening is bigger which may or may not work okay.

Well here's the skinny, I called Waterloo first and the guy started off saying they don't make boxes for HD since Jan 2016. I told him mine was an older discontinued floor model so he asked what the lock code was. I told him (it starts with an A) and he said "that's not ours, Geelong makes that box. " Then he gave me their number, which I did not call. He said Geelongs number is 888-441-5080.

I called Husky next, they confirmed that Geelong made the box and they are sending me keys for free.
