I’ve replaced the grey and red roller with my new 12 drawer roller. It seems to hold quite a few more tools without the open area at the bottom. Here are some pictures of the stack and the current contents of the roller drawers.IMG_9696.jpeg
Chisels and punches.

That was a treat. Thanks for the eye candy. That drawer layout sure is good for somethings. I want one I think.

Finally able to come across this lunch box style old craftsman box!! Walked by it and even dug through it a few times before realizing what it really was. She's pretty rough, but only real damage is on the bottom. Couple holes through. Think I'll just tack in an additional piece of sheet to strengthen it when I get around to the restore. Also, couldn't find the tray for it yet. Handle doesn't rotate all the way to be straight up and down, but assuming I can take apart the end lug pivots and figure that out. Pretty happy for this one!!

Any input on the quality of these boxes? I know Craftsman sold a lot types of boxes. These say super duty but I don’t know if they are friction slides, BB slides, or even an age.
Your feedback is appreciated

They were heavy duty but not top tier. At 33 inches wide they often get overloaded and beat up, which that one kind of looks like. Don't think they made any with bb slides but not positive on that.

You'll have to see it in person.

I can date that really specifically to 1967. In 1968 they changed the name to Sears commercial. Those boxes unfortunately are just wider versions of the same red and gray boxes made at the same time. The drawers are not extra reinforced to accommodate for the extra width and weight and the slides are not heavy duty. If you are expecting a box that is heavier duty than the red and gray boxes you will be disappointed. If you want a cool and uncommon box, buy it! Still a good box for sure! Just don’t overload it

I've had this perforated tray full of random **** for some time. Working today to sort and organize and come to discover this as Craftsman. Is 19-1/4" kind x 9-1/4" wide x 6-1/2" tall does anybody know where this comes from?

It’s just a tote tray they sold. It didn’t correspond with any particular set. It’s shown in the catalogs. They are super handy. I have a solid side (non perforated ) one that is super useful

I have one just like yours. Someone did a really bad paint job and even painted the Badge. I love finding these oldies.

I found that same tote in my recent GS post. I assumed relatively new. Thanks for identifying it as not part of a set.

After passing on this Craftsman wood grain toolbox twice last week I finally relented and picked it up today. Its’s had a hard life but after a little straightening it now opens and latches adequately. Something tells me that the original owner was a Richard Petty and SF Giants fan.

Since we are on Craftsman woodgrain toolboxes, I give you the Craftsman Three-drawer Competition Cabinet. Only available in the 1973-74 catalog. Ain't she a beauty?

This stack was available in 1971 for sure. My dad bought the stack home the same day I was born. I've only seen two other stacks in the wild. You have a gem!

Looking back at the catalogs I have and it does not show up in the 1971 catalogs, but that certainly doesn't mean it wasn't available.
It does show up in the 1972-73 catalog though, so I stand corrected there. Either way, a gem indeed.

He bought the complete stack in late October of 1971 from the Sears department store in Nanuet, NY. Sadly, the store and the stack are both long gone. There was an unfortunate incident when mom accidentally put the Buick in reverse instead of drive.

Late October 71 makes sense - not sure when the 72/73 catalog would have come out but certainly not everything that Sears had under the Craftsman brand was in each catalog.

Sorry to hear about the stack, I guess 'Rugged 1-piece heavy-gauge steel construction' is no match for the rear bumper of a Buick at speed.

Believe it or not, this is actually a fairly rare box due to it's limited production years. Alot of people might overlook it due to its more "modern/vintage" vibe but its actually pretty rare. Nice find

Well to be fair, the rear bumper of a 1970 Buick Skylark is a formidable adversary. Add to the equation that she hit the drawers on a 45 degree angle and you quickly realize that the poor Craftsman stack did not stand a chance. Notice the curved section of the bumper on each end? This was the death sentence for the stack.

Mom traded the Buick in soon after the tool box incident and drove off with a leftover 1971 lucerine blue GTO. I am happy to report in the 10 years of ownership of that vehicle no other tool boxes were killed.

It's not a toolbox but I thought this would be a good place to post it.

I picked up this stand/base at a warehouse sale that was once a cabinet shop. The stand had a working Craftsman radial arm saw that I gave to my neighbor across the street because I didn't have any room for it in my garage. The cost of the stand and saw was only $30. It was originally painted black at the factory, but I had it sand blasted, and powder coated gray for $175.

Looks nice. What do you plan to use it for?

I bought this new at Sears in the 80s to use in my work as a Union construction tradesman. It replaced a wooden carryall which my father had made me back in the 60s that started falling apart. Still in use a bit here and there when I have the time and energy to take a call off the list, which may happen again or it may not.

Edit; By the way, I try to find the lightest tools I can to put in this box that I have to lug around for work, but for some reason it still gets heavier every year.

I think this is unusual because I have not seen another in the wild where I found this one, it is an open carryall. I am guessing it is from the 50s or 60s. Sorry about the photos but it has turned into part of a dark storage shelf in my garage and is full of mostly various lubricants needed in the course of garage work;

Thanks. I'm no expert but I believe the logo on the stand was used from the 1960s into the early 1970s.
I just found out that these cabs were used on the CM radial arm saws from about 1960 upwards. The holes in yours looks outstanding.

I’ll be picking up one soon for my 53 CM drillpress station ! Thank you again for sharing this beauty 🤙🏼

A couple that are on a shelf in the garage that are very close except for their paint treatment. The light colored one belonged to a local man who worked as a heavy machinist in a local foundry and all his tools etc. are still in it, the dark colored one I have no memory of, I can not even remember what is in it.
