Thanks, JoCo! Interesting story about that twelve drawer roller and the ten drawer top. The guy I bought it from had bought those boxes new, and he was selling them because he had replaced them with the HF 44" roller and top box. He was only asking $50 for the combo! :pimpflash

Hello Galaxy, I looked at a 10 drawer top chest like the one you have posted upper rt. It is 99% mint. Never had a tool in it. Asking price 120 dollars. Deal or no deal? Thanks, Johnny Generic.

A red and gray box? I'd offer $100 but it sounds good. Even a red and black one in that shape sounds like a deal.

I found quite a few Craftsman tools today at various Tahoe garage sales. Among my finds was this Craftsman Heritage logo cantilever box. Considering how old it is it cleaned up pretty well.

Nice box. That logo is damned near perfect!

So I got a Craftsman box at my flea mkt for $20 today after deciding it be fun to do a resto project on it. Flipping back a page looks to be very similar to the top chest in the previous post #355 just one less drawer

All the drawers slide beautifully smooth and no dents or dings...

Just needs some fresh paint really, can someone point out a link for current color matching both the red and grey

Dang that sucker is heavy :D

Congrats! That was my before pic that you referenced. Here are both the before and after pics. I used Rustoleum Hammered Gray and Rustoleum Sunrise Red.

I picked up two of these last year for $20 each. One of them is pictured in a previous post. How can you pass that up?!

Good to know my price was in line :D

I will look for your box, I have time to go thru all the pages this morning.

I'm stoked on this now...

So just notice the side handles are different though paint color seems to be the same. Mine has the grab handles. others come with the bar/recessed style like my red 80's Craftsman. So does that maybe help date them?

That's beautiful! I'm looking forward to trying the hammered gray on one of my Crafty restos. :)

Thanks. DFB, I think yours is older than mine for a couple reasons. Your side handles differ and your Craftsman logo are on opposite sides than mine. You should be able to find a stenciled month/year date inside the left side of the upper section of your box. Here is a link to a previous post where I refurb'd an upper and lower box and show the cork liners I used inside.

Thanks JoCoSawdust!. I found the date stamp "1066" in that top compartment, underneath some dirt and paint. Is that October, 1966?

The drawer slides for the middle drawer were just plain missing when I bought it, so nothing to repair. I'll give Waterloo Industries a try based on the other helpful suggestion from tool scrounge. Thanks all!

My search continues for replacement drawer slides. Sounds like Waterloo Industries is no longer what it was. I had been directed to Sears Parts Direct but they were useless. I think I have tracked down the part # for the slides T14153A5 or possibly T14253A3. Searching online found none available. Anyone have any other ideas?

Ran across a Craftsman bottom roller just like the one B17E1943 posted about, vintage 1940`s thought they only came in silver...this one was red, at first I thought it was rust and some of it was but the cabinet was actually red, and did not look like a repaint, wish I had my phone with me at the time...

There's an eBay seller parting out a gray and red box. All he has listed are some drawers but it may be worth your while to shoot him a message and ask if he's got any slides. He says the box was rusted out so he's parting it out.

It's a 1966 model? And they don't have slides in stock?!

Shocking I tell ya.

There is a guy on eBay selling new slide clips though.

Here's a 6d Heritage chest I picked up a few days ago. The pic is post Dawn bath and a good scrub down with WD40 and fine steel wool. I corked-lined the drawers and put it to work.

I always forget there's a Heritage thread. While I'm at it, this came to me a few weeks ago. It's the larger of the two center lock long handles offered only in 46. 46 was an interesting year for the long handles. It was their debut and the four boxes offered that year never showed up again in later catalogs. I now have both the center lock boxes, hoping to find the smallest and largest boxes that 46 had to offer.

Found this 1968 two drawer that is in great condition. The big surprise came when I started cleaning it out and under one of the drawer liners I found the original owner's manual (second of these I've found), a form to order a personalized name plate, and the original sales receipt for the box! I'll try to remember to post an after photo when I'm finished with it.

I need to check out Lowe’s up here in Canada. They now have Craftsman boxes and I am trying to get back to my gearhead roots. Even if I got to ‘rebadge’ my no name and International.

How much did it cost in 1968?

Here is a photo of the two drawer after finishing the refurb. Post 391 above shows the before pics.
