Is this a pretty good setup? I don't have thousands of $$$ to spend on Snap-On....

ive got the top chest (got it at a sears repair center, it was a scratch & dent) and it's pretty nice..

but in all reality, a used Cornwell/Matco/Snap On box in the same price range, would be better quality. They'll have higher capacity drawers and a better finish.

Those boxes are stainless steel, but have a clear coating on them of some sort..if it delaminates, it looks like pooh

I bought my combo for 600 brand new. Well worth that price, but at retail I would buy a used truck box off craigslist.

Voting for used snapon also. With patience you can find a nice one for around 1500

would be a better deal. if you're not in Canada and can't get that one at your local Costco, I would still check costco.com or find a local Sam's club... some of those stainless steel boxes are pretty decent and usually a few hundred less.

I know it might be kinda dumb, but I do like the griplatch of the Craftsman.

I am in Pittsburgh, PA. Pretty much all truck brand boxes around here go for big $$, even used. I would definitely be interested in a used truck box, $1200 max though.

I don't care for either of those, and for the same reason. With the exception of the Craftsman top box, the drawers are too deep and because of that, there are not enough of them.

Most of the space in those deep drawers will be wasted on open air, and they really don't have good area ratios for the space they consume.

It's not about cubic inches. It's about Square inches of drawer space.

I like the Montezuma, but I also would like to see the toolbox in person so I could physically test it. Which is why I would rather go CM or used truck brand. No good deals on the used truck boxes around here though...

EDIT: Also, I don't see a need for the real deep drawers in the top box. Also does any other brand utilize the Grip-Latch system?

I wish I could invest $1700 in a toolbox, maybe I'll just have to keep saving for one a little better quality. I sure do dig that 56" though! I am a much bigger fan of that drawer layout!

That one is weak. 50 pounds per drawer, thinner metal than the griplatch series which must be being phased out in favor of Chinese International boxes.

i agree, too many deep drawers, not enough shallow ones.

I have a stainless box and hate it, epic fingerprint magnet. Craftsman one has a clearcoat but it will scratch and look crappy

US General 13-drawer cabinet plus a top box gets my vote, cheap and well built
