Craftsman tools acquired by Stanley Black and Decker

I just read about this on the news. I was amazed as well as confused. With the stock in Sears going to hell, once stanley begins making them, where will they be sold? Will they be made in USA? Will they offer a lifetime warranty? And lastly what will the quality be? If anyone has the inside scoop, we would be interested.

Who has the time to locate all of the past threads and figure out if the subject has already been discussed? Some of the other members get kinda touchy about reinventing threads but I don't care.

Anyway, I have purchased a lot of Craftsman tools and other brands also. Over the past several years the factory that manufactured Craftsman tools appeared to be dropping the american made tool brands like they were worthless.

After hearing Stanley bought Craftsman I heard the factory is now dropping the Allen and Armstrong brands from their production lines in March 2017. At this time I have no confidence in anything being here to stay.

The only way I currently know to figure out how well a USA production line and good warranty service will be is to wait until they begin running things. Then you will learn how well things will go and I do not know how long they will keep it going.

Do you seriously believe that a "factory" makes Craftsman tools? Sears (Craftsman) buys tools from the lowest cost supplier. The same is true of Kenmore appliances and Diehard batteries.

Do a "little" research and you will learn the truth about any Sears product.

The Armstrong/Allen names being dropped is fresh off the press. There is a good chance someone will scoop them up and continue to sell their lines. If Matco was smart they'd jump on that and buy them. As for Craftsman, they will continue to be sold in Sears, Ace, Menards, etc until all stores doors are closed. Then, they will most likely be sold in Walmart and other similar stores that carry Stanley and Black & Decker. About a year ago I heard rumor Home Depot was going to pick up the Craftsman line. Only time will tell.

I disagree here. For decades the pliers and pry bars were made in a small town near me by Wilde tool company in Hiawatha Kansas. Lyle tool company in Clarinda Iowa has been a long time manufacture as well. I saw a map several years ago that showed all the small manufactures that supply craftsman. They've been long-term contracts and keep these small towns alive. To have them come back would be a huge boost for all of these small cities and factories.
