Hi, I am wondering if anyone knows anything about vintage craftsman power tools. did the tools ever come in wooden boxes when you bought them?

I can answer since the mid 80's - no power tools came in wooden boxes. They did have a couple of anniversary hand tool gift sets in nice wooden boxes though in the 90's. I have some catalogs that date back to the 60's, I could check them but it will probably be a month or so before I am at my other house where they are located.

ok thank you mike that would help. I stumbled across a 1958 craftsman circular saw. the saw was in a wooden box. cant tell if it was custom made or came in the box. thanks-derek

I would say it was custom made, I have never seen nor heard of a wooden box. Rich
