They have these for $39.99 on sale if you need one. "Micro-torq" I think that's the model, standard clicker; I think it's all sizes at that price so probably better deal if you need 1/2".

Also had the multi head (mach?) pliers for $6 bucks on clearance and some other pair of cutters on the "mach" display. Not a bad deal, built okay with a sheath.

FYI. $39.99 is the everyday price for these. I have one, didn't buy it. It was given to me as a warranty replacement for a broken 30 year old American made craftsman beam style.

Even at the $40 mark, I would pass. Nothing special. I would pick up all three HF models for less money, which are made in Tawian vs China, and actually have a good warranty. Essentially, they are better in every way.

Yep, I agree. The adjustment is a pain in the *** on the Craftsman too.

Thanks. I'm working with a beam type ATM but I'll forget these and just get the HF ones eventually.

I would move fast on the HF ones. The past few times I've been in they have been phasing out the Taiwanese ones for Chinese. I would pick up a set ASAP. Take the 10$ torque wrench coupon and get all three.

Not exactly, but they tend to go on sale about one a month for this price.

Not to be a smart ***, but if they put it on sale every month, then that IS the regular price. The one week out of the month it's not $39.99, is likely just to contrast the "sale" price.

It's kind of like "Truck Month". When is it NOT truck month????

I just snagged 2 of the Pittsburgh Pro HF torque wrenches for $9.99 each with the newspaper ad coupon. You can't go wrong for that price, especially with a lifetime warranty.

They are not on sale three weeks out of the month if you walk into a store. Maybe half the month at best if you play in store sales and online sale with store pickup.

I've got 2 of them that need calibrated but doubt its even worth it...might just use them for breaker bars.

Instead i got in on the 1/2" Gearwrench/Danahar from Sears when it was on sale a couple months back...really nice torque wrench for the price. Also use HF Pittsburgh Pro 1/4" and 3/8"

Thank you for this advice. I just grabbed all three at $9.99 each. I had to dig to find the few remaining Taiwanese torque wrenches. There was only one left in the 1/4" drive size.

Did your taiwanese version come packaged like this?
I just purchased this one yesterday but it was Chinese

The packaging is very similar. You have to look for the small print beneath or next to the barcode. I found packages with "Made in Taiwan" on them. I also verified that the torque wrenches inside were stamped with "Taiwan".

In reality it probably does not much matter. These are cheap tools regardless of where they are made. I only bought these because I cannot afford a collection of entirely Snap-On tools, and my beloved Craftsman tools have all become "made in China" ****. However minimal the difference, it has always been my experience that Taiwanese tools seem to be of marginally better quality than their Chinese equivalents.
