I bought one of these about a year ago and it's all I use. I have a drawer full of different filter wrenches, but this one is my go to.

Just ordered one. Looks like they're not available for shipping anymore. Hopefully the Sears Auto Center pickup doesn't turn out to be too much of a hassle. Lots of people on SlickDeals mentioning it was a nightmare trying to pick it up from the Auto Center.

I had some pickup problems.

I bought 2, paid for some with points and the rest with a credit card.

When I got to the store the order showed $9 and change still owing. After 30 mins on the phone with Online support, they offered to send me a $25 gift card if I paid the extra $9.

I would rather it just worked, but not a bad result.

System showed was in stock locally. Just placed an order for one. Used reward points. Got my confirmation. 30 seconds later, get a cancellation notice because it is out of stock. Now I have to fight to get the reward points back. Not worth the aggravation for $6.00 worth of points. Really starting to get annoyed with Sears.

Same here, the guy said anyone using SYWR points caused the system to show the full price due. He made a couple taps on the computer and sent me on my way :dunno:

Just hope you never have to return anything to them. Got a speaker box from them for a gift over the hollidays. Didn't work and there system couldn't process the return... Tried a few times always being told "try coming back when so n so is working" Finally got fed up told them to shove it and left it there.

So this is like the battery cables and is in the tire part of Sears not the tool part?

I had plenty of issues getting my battery cables last time because they were in there.

This tool will be perfect for my '05 F150, where the end of the filter is accessible but it's hard to get torque on it.

Been trying not to buy stuff from Sears but I need a different filter wrench for my sons new car so I placed an order for one too. If I didn't have to go swap out a broken CM socket I would have passed. This does look like a good one. I have one of the universal types but it only loosens.

Just ordered the last 3, one for the house and 2 for work. Super easy to use and has the lifetime guarantee. Very handy in tight spots when I am working on some international engines.

Picked mine up today, much easier than the last time I went there but still they just went back to the shelf and grabbed one. Kind of like it better when the item I order is set aside but that hasn't bitten me yet in the tire center. Looks like it might work well in those tight spots. I am a little leery of how much torque you can put on it before it crumples up or slips off but we shall see.

I wish I would have seen this sooner, I have one of these and it is the only filter wrench I use anymore, would have been nice to get a few to give as gifts.

Used mine today with mediocre results. I think it will work fine where you have good access, otherwise it slips off and requires both hands to use. Half the problem was the idiot Ford engineers who decided to put an oil filter in the worst possible place.

I can't believe you guys like this wrench. I threw mine away the first time I tried to use it. Kept slipping off. :dunno:

It can slip much like many other filter wrenches. But once it bites it bites hard IMO. I had one and liked it, but it mysteriously walked away.:( I'm gonna stick some grip tape on the arms on this one...

i find it hard to use when the filter is upside down (honda odyssey), requiring both hands (i am clumsy), but much easier when the oil filter is top mounted, accessed from right under the hood (like toyota 4runner). i guess it's true for all oil filter styles but this 3 prong thing is worse as you have to keep adjusting it until it grabs, and hold it in place (upside down) before you can really start loosening the filter. i imagine the regular cup style doesn't have the issue.
