My apologies if this is in another thread, but a quick search turned up nothing definitive: Who made the old USA Craftsman reversible ratcheting wrenches? I don't own any by another manufacturer so I can't compare. I understand there were few plants producing these in the US. Was it Armstrong?

Yes, Armstrong made these for Craftsman and they were really fine wrenches. The Sears Hometown store had a set of SAE still in stock when I was there about a year ago. They were $99 and I probably would have bought them if the set were metric.

Armstrong made them. However, it might be important to note that they were not a rebadged version of a Armstrong wrench. Armstrong reversible ratcheting wrenches were a long pattern wrench whereas, the Craftsman reversible were shorter like a standard length wrench. Great wrenches though.

Thanks everyone for the informative replies. I help out at my friend's garage a couple of times per week and I agree -- these ratcheting wrenches are excellent and invaluable, especially if you have a set of the socket inserts to go along with them. I thought it was Armstrong who made them; now I know for sure.
