What's everyone opinion on the old US made Craftsman reversible ratcheting wrenches? How do they stack up to the modern Gearwrench, Icon, etc.?

They were nice, no frills, get the job done wrenches. I still have several on hand. I think their only downside was that they were on the short side lengthwise.

Comparing them to current offerings might be like an apples to oranges comparison in some case like the Icon set given that, the Icon combination ratcheting wrenches are some of the longest reversible ratcheting wrenches offered anywhere.

A buddy of mine has a set, they are nice and thin especially on the box end which is what you want. Most are bulky on the ratcheting end due to the mechanism and that limits their use in confined places.

I've had a couple for many years. Don't use them very often, but they work well when I do. Mine are, as Fedwrench says, a little on the short side.

I've got a 13mm. It's held up fine, but like Qualitytools said, they are somewhat bulky.

Thanks everyone, I got an opportunity to grab a metric set somewhat locally and just wanted to hear some feedback. I got an older set of DeWalts with ASD and looks like I'll just hold on to those.

I have metric and fractional sets of the Craftsman USA reversible ratcheting wrenches as well as Armstrong metric reversible ratcheting wrenches. As far as I can tell, they're exactly the same. The common Craftsman metric sets typically only went up to 18mm and skipped 11mm. I acquired the Armstrong set because it had no skips and went up to 19mm. I agree with other folks that they are a bit on the short side.
