Craftsman USA Satin Finish Offset Box Inquiry

Frequent lurker, not poster. I'm trying to find info on these Craftsman wrenches I recently purchased. Love chrome, just not for wrenches. I was hoping to find vintage Proto 8100M metrics in satin with no luck so I bought these. They "appear" to be very similar to the CM USA polished chrome "Professional" or "Industrial" wrenches that Armstrong made until 2010. By comparison the beams are less wide than the chrome USA and China models, especially the 13x15 which is also 1/4" shorter in length. I found the manufacturing and date code V^(2nd V inverted) = Danaher, Armstrong Division, ca. 1992 - 2012 here on GJ, but have been unable to find any other info searching CM part numbers 44325-26-27. Having a hard time believing any non vintage CM wrench would be rare, even without raised panels. Any help greatly appreciated regarding these "mystery" wrenches. TIA

I had a few of the satin versions. If i remember correctly, they weren't on the market that long, maybe 1-2 years before they were replaced with the full polished version. Nice simple no frills wrenches kind of like the satin KD branded wrenches of the same period.

I have a complete set of those in the box...didn't realize they were "rare". I bought mine in the early 2000s new from Sears.

Scarce may be a better word. Probably paid too much but won the auction using automatic bidding for $34 + shipping. Very tempted to relist and wait patiently for the elusive Proto 8100M set. I'd buy the Urrea 8100CM (Mexico) package but it's only available polished.

IMO can't really say you "overpaid" at $34 or less than $5.00 over original store list for a complete and somewhat hard to find obsolete USA Craftsman set. To me shipping costs are moot point and original retail would most likely have sales tax included also

Sears always did that kind of stuff pricing individual open stock extremely high compared to buying into a packaged retail set especially when often on sale in the weekly ad flyers.

In the catalog a single 1/2" combo wrench is listed at $7.19 cents and a 3/4" was $10.99 And if IIRC they would often sell something like entire 7 pc sets for less than $25

Could you or designer485 post the Craftsman model or part number on the box or from the 2000 catalog for the seven piece (4 pcs. SAE & 3 pcs. metric) set? Should be a 9- followed by five numbers. Thanks!

Forgot to mention $34 was only for the three metric wrenches. Still have mid 1940's vintage Plomb SAE offsets that have been passed down over decades. Grew up using the Plomb/Proto oval handles and they just feel "right" to me.

I see...so about the same as the original "off the rack" pricing

As for that "off center look" that was mentioned earlier a close inspection details its not the broching is off but little more grind and a slightly longer taper on one side, across the depth of the box and on the outside edge of the 14mm wrench only

Gives it character I guess

In the catalog I have ya only the 7 piece (14 sizes no duplicates)

Or as open stock in the only those sizes I listed in an earlier post 15mm was the largest in metric.

3/4" should cover your 19mm needs I would think though

7/8" in SAE is an equivalent to 22mm

As for the 16mm and 18mm sizes your SOL it looks like with these wrenches

There always the DBE wrenches from Craftsman too... longer for more leverage

Those are pretty extensive in sizing.

I had a set of those, probably mid-late 90s as well. I'm pretty sure I sold them on here after I got the USA polished versions (which I still have and use at work).
