I checked and all my G sockets are single detent. I found some were GK, and those were double. While we are talking Craftsman sockets, anyone ever had one marked with an X before? It's a 9/16" 30610 is the number on it.

From the Craftsman code chart by Lauver: X = SK Hand tools, post-Facom , ca. 2008 - 2009.
I thought it kinda looked like SK with those 2 lines above and below the branding.

I had seen that on the codes before, but I've never seen another socket marked with an X. I am assuming there were not a lot of them made.

3/8" drive 1/4" deep socket..and 12 point?! That one may be a unicorn. Keep an eye on ebay, might be cheaper to buy a set or partial set vs individually.

Flea markets are full of Craftsman sockets and wrenches. Some of the vendors understand used tools aren't gold. If you have the time and a local market it's a very viable option. You can also post in the wanted section here at Garage Journal. You'd be surprised what some people have laying around their shops and garages.

Good luck in your quest.

Yeah. Stop it. Craftsman sockets are pretty rubbish. 1/2" drive is maybe okay ish, but not really. So much better tools available in this price range.

I'm sorry to hijack your thread, but does anyone know the different series manufactured in the USA that are associated with 3/8 drive metric deep well 6 point sockets and possibly the date range for each?

So far I've located:

EE
V
G
G (inverted)
G1
G2
Laser engraved (appear to be G2)

Curious, does your inverted G have the knurling at the drive end rather than the hex end as the regular G?
