Craftsman =v= tools with pointed A's and flat top A's question

I copied some photos off of eBay and other places to try ask why some Craftsman =v= tools have Craftsman etched with flat top A's and pointed A's. Can anybody tell why they did them the way they did and what year(s) they made them?

Start here:

Type 1 = 1968; =v=, patent pending, no model number, pointy-A
Type 2 = 1969; same as above but with a flat-A
Type 3 = 1969-70; -v-, patent pending, model number, flat-A
Type 4 = 1969-70; -v-, one patent number "and others", no model number, flat-A
Type 5 = 1971; -v-, 3 patent numbers + 1971, model number, flat-A
Type 6 = ????; -v-. no patent info, model number, flat-A

Craftsman Toolbox Thread

From 1970. Before and in progress. was upside down in the 1st Pic as I'd already stared sanding the rust off the bottom as well as the rust an inch up tge sides from the bottom. What was under the rust was all metal and no holes. I know some will think this is blasphemy as I thought I'd go...

According to Lauver, the =v= tools with pointed As were made by Moore Drop Forge starting in 1946. The set on the left came complete with a Circle H flex handle, possibly using up remaining inventory supplied by New Britain.
